Footy season
Well she's starting to get to the pointy end...
Big game coming up this week with Richmond V Geelong...
Could very well be the game that sets up the top 4...
Danger game for the Eagles this week against the Saints, a game they should win...
Port all but locked into top two and in my opinion the team to beat...
Geelong are flying and one more win will secure top 4 same for the Lions ( unless the Eagles have two big wins )
Richmond can't go to sleep now otherwise the Eagles could relegate them to 5th and a straight sets exit would go down like a lead balloon...
Melbourne still have a glimmer of hope, It looks like they are the only team outside the 8 that could steal a T8 finish...
Collingwoods draw against Richmond could be very handy to slot them inside the 8....

Sour grapes
They all have a bad taste in their mouths because they believed the media that the Eagles would shit in and put money on them. If the umps don't see it then it hasn't happened

Yeah Simo so we didn't play
Yeah Simo so we didn't play finals, in 5 years time or maybe less no one will remeber your team did either.
You might be right, Hawks might bottom out for a few years. Thats no big deal, I'll continue my support regardless. Thats the way it goes...
I'm pretty realistic and at the end of the day its 40 blokes chasing a bit of leather around. One thing is forsure if you were to go back 5 years when we smashed the Eagles in 2015 GF I wasn't on a public forum big noting and being a general cockhead spruking about my team like you have been...
I do feel for the Eagles and their supporters as I do the Dogs, its a long time until you get another crack but with blokes like you around its quite entertaining...
I'm asssuming now the Eagles are out you'll be around less...
Pop back from time to time though, its good having you around xxoo

Just for a change of topic let me tell you about my Friday night.
4 minutes or so to go in the Brissie vs. Tigers game and the Tigers kick a goal to get within reach. Bloody exciting game and the power goes out. Fuck me!

I'll probably get fried for this but I reckon they should do away with that rule if it shaves or hits the inside of the goal post and goesbthrough should be a goal. Would eliminate half of the video ref crap, I gues the only negative is player might use the post to their advantage to ricochet of it. Thoughts?

Winner
Great to see South Freo scrape home in the grand final, was a tough game but the better team took the points in the end.
Would have preferred Cometti to been commentating than giving snippets as the others were bloody hopeless. They could have listened to an expert and learnt something along the way

Great season by South Freo
Great season by South Freo especially as they opted for a cleanout and organic rebuild a few years ago and good to see the silver spooners sent packing again.
Will be interesting to see what happens with the WAFL next year with the AFL teams cutting their lists as there'll be a huge injection of talent. I'd love to see a system whereby returning AFL players need to sign with their development club for at least a couple of years rather than allowing clubs the richer clubs like Subiaco to just buy them.

I dont suffer from tall poppy syndrome so I want to see the best two teams play in the GF...
I'm not sure that Brissi is quite there yet, for me it leaves Port and Richmond...
Neutral supporter from here out but I think the Tigers will win comfortably tonight and the pies in a closer one tomorrow...

No, we turned that trade which was pick 2 for Andy Brayshaw.

Wrong Lachie, wrong year LOL.
No, you got pick 6 for Lachie Neale which you gave away for Hogan which Gold Coast ended up with to draft Ben King. That is way too funny

Funny that.... I remember
Funny that.... I remember having this convo with Boon last year and I stated the following and was shot down for having 'Eagles blinkers on':
"Kelly isn't in the top 3 mids at Geelong letalone top 10 in the league Boon and his numbers have dropped off severely since he started getting some attention. He's a 'cherry on top' player and not someone you'd build a midfield around. Definitely not worth selling the farm for."

Lol Jack you don't like
Lol Jack you don't like being wrong do you...
I listen to a lot of talk back radio, like a lot!!
SEN gets a fair thrashing on my radio and one thing is a common talking point regarding Geelong is how well they've covered Kelly - ARGUABLY THEIR BEST AND CERTAINLY ONE OF THE BEST MIDS GOING AROUND IN 2019 - Now Jack that isn't coming from me, that is coming from Gary Lyon, Tim Watson, Bob Murphy, Gerad Whately, Kane Cornes, David King and pretty much anyone that comes on SEN to talk footy and how this season has panned out when talking about how well Geelong have gone...
What you were saying was - Oh he's not that good we shouldn't HAVE to sell the farm for him - LOL BUT YOU DID.....
You had your biased eagles vision on - For me ( with non bias vision ) I was expecting Kelly to take off where he left off at Geelong and continue to dominate at the Eagles but he didn't!!
FYI - He finished 5th in the 2019 brownlow, 7 times he was voted BOG so thats a pretty dominant performance in a pretty star studded side that have Menegola, Duncan, Selwood, Ablett, Dangerfield, Guthrie etc etc running through the gutz...
Anyway thats the way the cookie crumbles so don't talk shit Jacky boy...

"I was expecting Kelly to take off where he left off at Geelong and continue to dominate at the Eagles but he didn't!!"
Yes that's right Boon because with key injuries to Shuey, Redden and Yeo he had to lead the midfield rather than float around as the 3rd in line off the chain and struggled.

What does third in line off
What does third in line off the chain mean Jack?
Most EXPERTS would have said Kelly was Geelongs no. 1 midfielder last year, thats not me saying it, thats the blokes that have been in and around footy forever.
You can't possibly take your Eagles biased goggles off and even have a decent duscussion.
You talked him down hoping the Eagles would get him cheaply, they didn't!! They paid what Geelong wanted, Geelong turned a WAFL hack into an AFL gun and then the Eagles paid them 2 first rounders for him...
What he does in years to come who knows...
If this was a Freo trade move you would be carrying on like a fucking tosser.
You win some and you lose some in trade Jack, at this stage he isn't worth 2 x first rounders but its early days...
Potentially signing Mcglovin on a million a year and the Kelly trade might not set the club up very well into the future but thats all hypertheticals aint it...

Richmond, too
Richmond, too good...
Geelong not enough good players on all lines to beat a team like Richmond that have guns every where...
They'll be very hard to beat next year again!!
I can't think of any retirements that will be a loss for the Tigers in 2021

That goal Dusty kicked when
That goal Dusty kicked when Stanley dropped a sitter about 20m out from Richmonds goal when the ball came in from one of the Richmond players and it ended up spilling over to the boundary where Dusty swooped on it knocked Danger out the way dodged another Geelong bloke and snapped it from the boundary was fucking bullshit good and sums up the two sides really!!
Stanley drops a sitter, Dusty beats two and snaps a 40 m kick from no where...
You'd be a brave man to bet against them next year, Can't see them losing any big names, the likes of Rioli, Castagna, Baker, Vlaustin will just keep getting bigger and better...
Houli is one that has been talked about leaving but we'll see...

Another season done and "dusted"
Thanks for the banter all.
Hopefully 2021 will be suffering less impact from Covid and the mighty Eagles will reign supreme .
In the meantime, I will keep searching for that elusive big gold nugget out here at Meeka so I can retire and not have to work again next year.
