Start off small and go

Start off small and go deeper as you get more experienced. The main thing I find when free diving is to relax and try not to be nervous. A tad hard when your 15m down and can see how far away the boat is. Im guessing you know how to equalize so the main thing is being able to stay down longer/go deeper. Watch some videos on youtube on how to practice, they uses things like holding your breath doing something and then do it again and try do it for a bit longer. I’ve found that actual free diving is the best practice and each dive you get more experience which you can’t get on land and with experience you start to loosen up and your breath hold increase dramatically once you learn to slow your heart beat.

A few spots metro to try would be Cott groyne, Deep six in mozzy park, woodies pt a bit further down and pt perron is also good, I haven done much shore base stuff around the north beaches so cant help you there….

Good luck mate and don’t push it at the start

Try diving at Two Rocks and Yanchep. In front of the little rock [southern] rock at 2 Rocks there is some good reef to dive on and out the front at Yanchep lagoon.Do NOT dive under the ledge at Yanchep lagoon, over the years there have been 5-6 people drown when thet ran out of breath or snagged up underneath it.
