Free trip to cray dive on one condition...
Hey fellow Fishwreckers,
Just went thisarvo to pull the pots for the first time and have got a pot snagged in 21m NW of Mindarie - the other pot had a ridiculous amount of scuff marks on the bait lid and inside the neck but alas no crays???
Im thinking the pots that were next to eachother may have been pulled by someone ( only ever got crays in pots after that amount of scarring)
and the other one may have been slid along the bottom rather than pulled straight up - like a novice that pulls pots from the side rather than walking up the rope first and going vertical - ive not had a pot snagged in the last three years doing that even on the rough stuff.Or its just baaaad luck. who knows...
Anyway, whatever has happened i need to get this pot off the bottom and was planning a trip out on Sat morning....id like to offer someone a trip out for a dive in return for getting this pot off the reef.
As im not a diver, i would be happy to take two (if someone wants a dive buddy) and am happy to sit at anchor nearby until you have had a nice dive.
My boat is a 6m centre console with dive ladder, if that helps.
Thanks in advance
Joffa.

Free immersion style? What is the record ATM? 116m?
Funny you mention that, we did do that the other day to untangle some pots. They were in a lot less than 21m though ;)

While we're on the topic,
While we're on the topic, seen a timber pot washed up just inside the south wall of Hillarys on Sunday if someone is missing one??? Dunno how it ended up there, prob some noob hooked it on the way in, looked to be intact.
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Bump,
Alfred has pulled the pin last minute, anyone else keen on an early dive off mindarie?
Plan is to meet at Mindarie ramp at 6am and head straight to a good series of ledges in 21m - have a nice dive, free a pot then possibly another dive shallower - anyone wanna give Till a dive buddy and come for a run in the Barcrusher.
Cheers Joffa.

not quite on subject but close
took the dogs for a walk yesterday along the beach south side of mandurah cut. i counted 8 washed up sets of floats and partial cray pots both plastic and wooden it has been a disarster for quite a few of the locals hoping to catch a few crays and i dare to say there would be quite a few more pots that are caught on reefs and others that have not washed into shore yet bad storm for all pot users

Pot recovered!!
It seems according to Till that it had traversed a deep wash out hole and was "never" coming out......
Alfred, dont stress mate next time I go to pull the pots both you and Till can do a proper dive when the water doesn't resemble a mocha drink.
Unfortunately for me it has been a real shit start to the season with a pot stuck and one probably ending up halfway up mindarie beach, possibly almost onto Marmion ave in that storm, but alas now i have 2 pots soaking (after a quick mercy dash to the "pot makers" palace and rigging trip to bluewater then a dash back out to set) for a pull tomorrow and all my fortunes will change ...thats fishing.
A massive thankyou to Jamie=Till for taking time out to help me, you sir are a true gentleman and welcome on my boat whenever you get the chance.
funilly enough we even spotted a floating batten out there today, and spoke to several boaties who had pots destroyed, lost or drifted many miles - but that makes them little critters just taste ever soo much sweeter!!!!
most boaties seem to be reporting a couple in pots, but not too crazy just yet, maybe tomorrow!!
Cheers again Till,
Joffa
