Freighting boat from Sydney cost?
Submitted by timboon on Fri, 2020-05-08 12:11
Has anyone had a boat trucked east to west recently?
Looking at a 20fter on a trailer so roll on roll off Sydney to Perth.
Wondering how much Freight cost approximately would be.

Mansfields are charging $4400 from Melbourne
Delivery for a new Reefrunner. They run a dedicated service, one on a tray, one trailered, IIRC, if this is any help. There have been a few threads on this last few years, consensus was 4-5K?

Cheers Ralph. A bloke I know runs broadacre gear both ways I'm awaiting a price from him. 4-5k sounds expensive to me but maybe that's because I was hoping for less!

Be careful paying less, I paid a bloke $2500 to get my boat from Woy Woy NSW to Perth, he never picked it up and did a runner with my money, I was lucky enough that a friend of a friends dad who is a truckie was in Adelaide and he went up and got the boat for me for $2500, in the end it would have been cheaper to go with a mainstream transport option.

Ouch....
I know the bloke personally, the father inlaw occasionally jumps in his road trains and helps him out getting gear over and back...

I got a car trucked from Albany to Geraldton the other day Boon
Paid $689, which was the best quote I got on a site called Truckit. You enter the relevant info and truckie and companies send you quotes for the job. Might be worth checking out to confirm that $4-$5k is the approx going rate.
Car arrived safely and as advised by the carrier.

Cheers Gadsy...
Yeah I wouldn't mind going across Andy, got some good hunting ground on the west coast of SA I'd like to explore in a decent boat...
Its a solid week though realistically, probably $1500 in fuel loss wages etc etc plus everything else..
Are you in Gerro Gadsy or Albany?

I'm in Gero Timboon
Been here since 1999.
The car broke down in Albany (Mazda BT50) in late January and Mazda finally agreed to replace the motor a couple of weeks ago.
Got ourselves a LC 200 series VX now to tow the caravcan with. Want to buy a BT50?

Have you checked out costs Port to Port, I looked at that a couple of years ago and seemed reasonable.

Freight goes by volume, in this case
Stuff likes boats on trailers, while not heavy takes up a lot of space that could otherwise be occupied by a denser cargo, meaning a better return. This is reflected in the cost, unfortunately.
