Fresh fish bait in Exmouth
Submitted by Tandawg on Wed, 2013-04-03 21:42
Just a matter of curiosity. I will be fishing Exmouth in a few weeks time and would like thoughts on what fish is good for bait up there.
Similar to our humble wrasse and seargent Bakers for dhuies, what fish would you use fresh whilst fishing?
In the past I have found a nice big piece of tuna works well along with some Cally squid. Trevally doesn't have as much bang with the fish.
Any thoughts?
Thank you

Bait
Rock crabs are great bait easy to find and don't cost a cent, used cuttlefish up there as well and did well not as soft as squid or as firm as occy so lasts on the hook well and presents beautifully.

def go the charlies. great
def go the charlies. great bait all round. then again any fresh fish baits work well if presented right. whiting heads work a treat as well , one hook through just under the bottom jaw and through the top presents them well
