Fuel Flow
Submitted by Rick on Tue, 2009-08-18 20:53
Have been toying with the idea of fitting a fuel flow meter of some description in the boat.
Have a good idea of fuel consumption against miles travelled. More for watching fuel usage at different rev ranges and trim of the motor.
Just wondering how many boats are running them and how much benefit it is ?. The motor I'm running is a Mercruiser 4.2.
I'm sure there would be a few different types out there, curious to know peoples thoughts and experiences
Cheers

Navman
If you are running Navman gear they have all the bits and it runs through your GPS saving you the work of figuring it out

Handy
Is handy. Have the GPS hooked up directly to the Suzuki and get the data directly out of the engine management system.
Have used the Navman inline system before as well but it kept on jamming up. Seems from what I have heard its pretty common.

Good
yes I run the Navman one and it's very accurate. You can adjust speed and trim and fine tune most economical way to set up your boat for the conditions. I have ran the inline Navman sender for over 5 years and it has never missed a beat.

Running Furuno 7000 GPS so unsure as what options are out there?
Is there a stand alone system that anyboby knows of?
Just the more you hook together if one part fails it's likely to affect everything........
