Hey mate,
Do you have any securing strap around the hose after it pushes over the barb?... I've seen cable ties used but there is something very similar called a 'sta-strap', they're basically a cable tie except with a tapered head so it gives full clamping pressure around the hose. You can get them from any merc/mariner dealer for about 50c a piece.
Sounds like the fuel pump is pushing fuel up to the carb until the carb bowl is full which will then cause the float to seal the fuel intake. This will obviously increase the pressure in the hose and cause a leak.
Cheers

Hey I recently rebuilt the
Hey I recently rebuilt the carbs on my old Johnson/Evinrude
Same thing happened to me.
What I found was the fuel line being old was brittle and the pressure of pulling the hose off the barbs cracked the hose at the bend 10cm away from the carbs.
This is probably the same thing that's happened to you as long as you've replaced the gasket and securely bolted the carbie back on.
The solution? I took a sample of the hose and went to auto-one. Matched it to the same sized carbie fuel line and replaced all the old internal fuel line and used heavy duty cable ties to secure on the barbs.
Good luck
