Hi good people, I'm seeking some advice on what type of transducer I should buy for a furuno fcv 582 I have just brought. I do most of my fishing under 100 metres, the transducer socket is 8 pin, I'm new to furuno stuff so any and all advice is most gratefully appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation

My old FCV-581 that i run a 600w Airmar P66 transducer on the back of my Ally. Works great for the fishing i do which is genrally less than 100m deep. Though the couple of times i have been to around the 120m area i have still been able to see the bottom perfectly.
Even when traveling at 20kts i can still read bottom perfectly and see schools of fish.
In saying that though i think a 1kw would be better from what i hear other people say.

thanks for your input Buz it's good to hear from people who have got a like unit and have some experiance with it than get the good old sales pitch for a salesman who probably has a lot of good advice but also has a bit of a vestered interest

I do believe the Airmar P66
I do believe the Airmar P66 Transducer Cable didnt have the right socket to fit into my FCV-581(8 pin), but at the time(1998) we got Taylor Marine to cut the original P66 socket off and fit the right socket, so the P66 could fit into the FCV-581. Was along time ago though i cant perfectly recall.
The only downside of the 581 is its about the size of an old school small TV. Nothing like the new sleek ones :D
