Submitted by Tony Halliday on Tue, 2008-07-29 09:18
I'm looking for a supplier of Garmin GPS accessories for a car-nav system in Perth.
I need a windscreen suction cap mount for a Garmin Nuvi 760,
does anyone know where I can get one urgently today.
thanks
Tony

Any other Garmin stuff?
My landlord has just aquired the Garmin agency in Perth, so can put you in touch if there is anything else - but for specialised stuff and repairs(garuntee too), Johnny Appleseeds in Sydney are the boys - gave me a good price on a zumo 550 unit last year....Garmin was just too expensive for the marine electronics though.

thanks Dave
the unit belongs to my mate and we ( like tools we are) left the suction cup and clip in the hire car over otherside of the world!!!
Anyways, we got a spare one now ( thanks to Ranger Camping) and will pick up the old one back on the east coast when one of us flies back that side...
whats the Zumo 550 like, the Garmin 760 is bloody nice and with the $100 cash back from Garmin at the moment, you can get it for $550. BARGIN and loads cheaper than the Tom Tom. Also having the built in MP3 player and blue-tool, allows you to take your music with you all the time... ( who needs a fangled Iphone....lol )

Zumo 550
Tony,
Got the zumo as I was touring on a chopper in South Africa with my wife - Fantastic unit, mainly targetting the motorcyclist though - left hand control, glove friendly touch screen, waterproof, sun readable, fuel tank limit and warning, blue tooth to headset in helmet and from mobile phone to helmet, so incoming and outgoing calls can be made if your helmet is good, camera and radar warning, static cams and points of interest, danger zones(Hijack, High risk and pedestrian zones in SA, believe it or not?)Full car kit as standard accessory, Photos and music to aux Mem stick, so it unlimited on space and garmin has the best direction on voice promt - they will say"turn left 300m ahead into main street then keep right" where Navman or Tom tom just say "turn left at the next intersection"
But you get what you pay for...so when your life depends on it, as in Africa, get the best..
Good mapset too and recalculation of routes are excellent.

Africa is a tuff place
Hey you talking to an ex SAFFA here, I know all about affirmative shopping with an AK47 and hot-spots.
thats why I fish here now and not overt there anymore,...lol
I looked at the Zumo for use on my KTM motard, when buggering around in the back woods of the hills or going bush. I found my old Magellan very hard to read on the move with the bike as well. But I can not justify the Zumo yet, where as the nuvi 760 at half the price can be justified for now.
ps, does the zumo have a fire rockets and grenades function at Zuma for Johannesburg ??? or do we need to retrofit that ourselves...???
