G'day

Hi fellow fisher folk, just a short note to introduce myself. long time reader first time contributor.  now i've got my baby (610 trailblazer from the good people at trailcraft)  i'm hoping to be able to get out amongst fish like i've seen posted on here.  still working on going out miles yet, 5 fathom is as far as i've got so far and no gps so a bit hit and miss but all good fun eh, plus it's my first boat and it didn't come with sea legs lol.  this site rocks so hopefully i will have some pics to show soon. see you out there.

Thanks for the welcome fellas. I'd like to take you up on your offer Fishy, just gonna be tied up with work for the next couple of weeks.  Got a couple of weeks off over chrissy so if your heading out some time then we could be on.   Tried to post a pic of the boat but not very computer savvy, might have to get my 14 yr old to help me. That's gonna hurt lol. Yes i am local,  in Calista

Thanks again.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.  Yeah Deegs she handles ok, haven't tested the range yet but the 140 on the back pushes her along quite nicely.  Tim have been launching from Pt. Peron it's closest and the facilities are pretty good there.  Dean we might be in with a chance if the target fish are herring and squid lol.

Well steve, we all start

Thu, 2007-12-06 22:12

Well steve, we all start somewhere.  Was a while before we started to find fish, but I'm sure some SOR people will help you out with general Directions.  Heard that South/west bank can fish good for mackies at the right time and further west of there you can start to find some good ground.
Other than that five fathom can fish good for pinks and dhuies if you know where to go or anchor and burley.  South/west Rotto has some good spots but is probably heavily fished, went out with an angling club boat in that direction and did well on different species.

Welcome Aboard

Fri, 2007-12-07 07:02

G'Day Steve!

Welcome aboard matey. I'm south of the river too. VERY south though - Mount Barker - not much fishing water here - so we head out of Albany.

'The Five' can certainley be productive, just look around. You can always take bearings off identifying markers on your horizon. Caught plenty of fish off 'The Five' - good on the outside for trolling skirts etc and getting the lil 'Tna Song' on the reels. (Just look for 'bird sign' on the right day).

There's a unique combination of ample knowledge and a wilingness to unjudgementally help in here - so you'll be well looked after.

Tight Lines!

Hiya Steve,

Looks like the gang have got the welcome mat out. :) If you have any difficulties with the site then don't hesitate to ask. Look foward to seeing a few pics and reading a few stories of how the new tub goes.

Cheers,
Adam
