Gnaraloo weather

G'day guys

I'm headin to Gnaraloo station this sunday and so far the weather looks pretty blowy ( about 20-25 knots at times). just wondering if everyone thinks we should still cart the boat up there and fish around the bay, away from the sanctuary zones of course. also has anyone fish around the bay at night time or is it to dangerous? I think it will be a great trip either way as last year we caught a fair variety of fish land based but would love to see what the place has to offer out of casting distance. let me know what ya's think.

cheers

AJ

Gnaraloo

G'day AJ

My son and his mates have just come back from Gnaraloo, where they towed up the 14' runabout. The water was pretty swelly so they kept in close and spent more time skurfing in the bay, than fishing.

They did report that the track in was pretty rough, and the boat and trailer both suffered some damage. They broke the welds off the mud guard brackets and the rachet strap buckle wore a hole in the side of the boat. The welds were fixed by someone at the homestead, but they cracked again on the way out so a quick stop in Carnarvon temporarily fixed it so he could get home.

Don't let this stop you taking your boat, but I thought I'd share his recent experiences.....however, I'm now thinking twice about towing the Trailblazer up there, even though the fishing reports from those with boats have been really good.

Look forward to your report when you get back...have a safe trip.

regards
rusty...

big swell

Aj , just checked sea breeze , the winds average for this time of year for the next few dys but i would be watching the swell as next Tuesday it gets up to 6mts so if you have not been there before , i would advise you in those conditions not to take the boat out   IMO

I did gnaraloo in may this year and last year did very well both times but this year the weather blew a nw every day so it was hard work.

Take your boat and the gamble i would because there would be nothin worse than standing at the filleting shed wacthn everyone clean there fish cause the weather was good, had amate go up in august last year and reckons the whole weeks boating weather was perfect.

Yeah We went August last year

Yeah We went August last year and only missed two days. The weather was worse this year in early June but saying that seabreeze was amile outin their forecast. The winds were showing southerly and blowing easterly every day. Even on the predicted 4m swell was the best days we had out as the winds dropped and I reckon the swell was 2.5m at best. The track is the worry though. tighten everything up.and let the tyres down to 25psi. enjoy the trip

Boat

If it was up to me , the boat would be on the back. Even if you only get out for one day its worth the effort towing it up.

On a couple of trips up there when I lived down south we only got out 1-2 times in the two weeks we were booked in for and cleaned up each day.
