Caught this beautiful little Goatfish today in 40m of water. I have only ever got them in shallow water before .
Anyone know what sort of Goatfish it is ?
Cheers

If i had my fish ID book
If i had my fish ID book handy i'd be able to tell you exactly what it is, but I think it's a Yellow Striped Goatfish (Parupeneus chrysopleuron).

it's not much of a barb, its a sensitive barbell for feeling around on the bottom, just like a catfish would use its barbells

I have eaten Black-spot Goatfish
and rate it very highly. I thought it was going to have the same bright white flesh as Foxfish but it didn't. Very nice on the chew though.
