transducer choice

ive done a search and couldnt come up with much, but i am just about to buy a furuno 585 from the states with the dillar being soo good..

my question is whats the difference betwwen the airmar trannys...the tm258 and the tm260...

what would be the better option? one is more expensive then the other but im not sure which one to get.

i have the 258 , it's the bottom of the range 1kw and it's ok

the 260 is a step up.  better sensitivity so the airmar site says.

 elements for hi and a single larger element for low hz where as the 258 only has 4 elements that do both frequencies ,the beam angles are slightly different but not much IMO i would be going the tm260 ,you will get a lot better readings with that one

I just set up and tested a TM260 on the weekend to a HDS10. Pretty happy with it.

More happy that I mounted it in the right spot and no leaks. (Touch Wood)
