Good day out in sunny Esperance
Submitted by woody on Mon, 2018-04-09 13:25
Finally got around to beach launching the Barcrusher yesterday out of town and it paid off. Caught nearly our bag limits for 2 people in under 2 hours after we found a beaut drop off in 40m and spent another 4 hours sounding around and marking spots for next time.
Home in time to fillet, clean up and watch the Eagles win!

Yeah it was a cracker! Pity
Yeah it was a cracker! Pity the nannies weren't that big, actually released about 10 or 12 that were easily size but not worth keeping at that size I reckon. Its a good thing they release so well unlike the BA which need some help with getting back down.

Bight Reds
The Bight Reds do release well.
This is a plus when you catch undersize ones, but a bastard when a big one shakes the hooks just under the surface and heads straight back down...!

Fair question Russ for sure
Fair question Russ for sure - Each licensed fisher is allowed 5 fish in the demersal mixed bag (BA, queens, harlies etc) and then 8 Nannygai.
So there there was 2 of us fishing, both with RBFL licences so technically we could of came home with a mixed bag of 10 and 16 Nannygai. As it was we had 10 and 13.
First time I've actually came close to catching my bag limit of both.....weather is normally too crap or I'm working!

Good stuff Woody, I'm trying to pick the background and work out how far around you went...
I'll be back down there maybe next Feb now we have the van and i'll have a decent roof topper...
We are spoiled for choice in WA, it is a long haul to head North or as far East as i've seen you previously but both are very worthy!!
