Fark, move the boat much? Geez, the pinks are all good size from the sound. Sunday arvo looks gd to suit my little tub, dunno if I wanna meet mr white or the crowd tho
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Will pop around after work Johnny and see if he did any damage.
Ryan was tagging a heap and would be good to know his score, good to meet him.
Something does need to be done re the White, his getting a bit to agro for my liking... or send him to OPSM

great night!
Yo johnny,
Was good to catchup last night and meet both of ya's
Ended up tagging 10 fish (lost 2 also)......estimated weights from 7-11 plus kgs and a mix of females & males!
The females were developed and one only female was hydrated ready to spawn.....as for the boy snaps a few were also ready to go when the females are!
A customer came in to my shop today and dropped off a tagged fish to Blake. Its good to see people care about the tagging program and after the tag info and length etc was recorded the customer left with his fish! (Thanks)!!!
I will check with Fisheries Research soon re the details on that fish!
Last year I had a tagged fish that I tagged 6-7 years ago get recaptured last year.......great info and good to see the program working!
As for the GW hitting your hull and doing that shit..............glad I'm not putting my hands in the water........

so when you get more
so when you get more hydratex females is that when they close the season?
always wondered how athey decided it was time to shut it down
getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

hydrated!
Means the females are doing their thing and often the full & new moon is their trigger!
As for when the ban is in place, I spoke to Fisheries Research many many years ago in consultation with others and expressed my thoughts ie the "bulk schools and Spawning mass " are entering the Sound more so late September so 1st October would we ideal!
The ban dates were changed and spot on now!

Hey Willlo, I get Pinks
Hey Willlo, I get Pinks anywhere from 15 metres out to 30 metres. Bigger fish are coming from the deeper spots at the moment and my theory is they are heading north to spawn in the sound. PM me if you want info on how I fish, but spots as you seem aware have to be earned.
On one occasion we caught some good fish after seeing them on the sounder over a area where they shouldn't be but I regonised them as large Snapper on my 585 sounder and when we caught them they were very silver in colour indicating to me they were ocean going fish.
Tip... Last year just before the Demersal Ban I was catching good Snapper along the Bouvard Reefs on the ocean side, I figure these fish were heading north on their spawning migration as well... not sure but that's my theory. Also anyone can fish here but it's also about knowing your targets habitat.
Maybe Ryan Thipthorp could enlighten me as to how far these Snapper migrate or maybe someone from down here in Bunbury could get involved in the tagging program which I'd be glad to get involved in.
There are certainly resident fish always down here but this is the best time of year out from Bunghole for good fish.
Good Luck

Migrate!
The Cockburn Sound Pink Snapper are very important and unique as the spawning fish come from long distances and they populate a very large area (especially the lower half of WA) after being in the Sound!
They have been recaptured well South if I'm correct, I will be talking to Fisheries Research tomorrow and will ask the questions and let you know!
