GPS Drama's
Submitted by crab_man on Fri, 2011-10-07 20:49
Hi guys,
Been browsing here for a while and now I need some help lol. Having drama's with my Garmin GPSMap not picking up satelites with a couple of antenna's now. Does anyone know any places that can test it out for me so I know that it is 100% stuffed and just becomes a dedicated sounder and start saving for a another one. It is an older model but been rarely used.
Thanks
P.S. If you ever see me out and about come say hi and point me where the fish are, I never have any luck lol.

Garmin have an agent in
Garmin have an agent in Canningvale can't remember the address. Took my old handheld there when it got water inside and they replaced it for half price as it was an older model.
Love the West!

unfortunatly you need to contact garmin themselves in sydney standard communications or gme as they are known as have not been a garmin agent for a couple of years now

reef anchor !!
hey smash looks like a reef anchor to me , designed to be straightened out when you drive over them if they get really stuck and then bent back into shape , great for coral work not so for sand obviously !!!

I am going out on a limb here
I think the yellow float with the 50 odd mm rope and a big steel eye braided into it maybe doing the anchoring on this occasion.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

allrounder-I see now, the yellow float is a permanent fixture ashore? Is that a Rotto thing? but the chain appears to continue past the shank to somewhere closer to the float?
Fishfish, yeah Ive seen plenty of reef picks, but (correct me if Im wrong!) a smallish Polycraft could straighten that pick-Id almost eat my hat! Plus that chain looks to be maybe 10mm to me!
Nothing wrong with bigger anchors-but I couldnt work out the yellow float etc?

Hahaha, I was starting to wonder what was wrong with my anchor lol. Yeah that anchor is gone now, wasnt good for staying put and if it did ever work no doubt it was going to become a permanant reef fixture.
Ordered one final GPS antenna to try tonight haha. I love china $12 delivered. After that I save for something with a built in antenna.
