GPS Inteference

Does any one know if mounting two GPS areals close together will cause any intefearence?

If so what would be a safe distance to mount them appart?

Will only want it temporarily so that i can mark old spots onto the new unit as i have had toubble with walking marks in the past where some marks would end up 50-100m away from where they are supposed to be on the gps.

Cheers for the help guys

GPS receivers are just that, they only recieve. I have been running two side by side for a couple of years--one is an external aerial, mounted on a dash right alongside an interanl aerial unit, doing just as you wish to do, and they have both been fine.

as mentioned shouldnt be a prob. i found out not too long ago that if you use the same coords from 2 diff machines there could be a slight diff in location. something to do with gps machine settings. so i have been told anyway . in saying that i have niticed in the past a slight diff between my 2 gps units when marked at anchor on one of our kg spots.

Each propriatory brand has its own position resolution geometry based on the number of satelites they can lock into. The more satelites they can acquire the better the fix. Antenas have aquisition of 8, 16 ,52 satelites etc. The frequency used from 10 htz onwards also has an influence. No probs with multi antenas. However note for enclosed or partially enclosed cabins with plate glass the gps signal can be bounced arround and will effect accuracy according to one of my crew who is a surveyor who works in open cut mines where they use gps to calculate level of excavation.
