Hello people, these are some photos of my Lowrance HDS-10 after it rained the other day. In my profesional opinoin I would say that it is f#^*%# & throw it in the bin. Any other ideas?

Inside or outside of screen? Does it turn on at all?
Seeing as they're supposed to be waterproof I would be contacting whoever you bought it from.

Buggar
Aren't all things like this meant to be sealed units that can cope with SOME spray / rain? Hopefully warranty will sort you out, if not then the good old insurance policy.

Yep......Buggar
It's on the inside. It turns on but doesn't really bring up a picture. In the book it is rated IPX7 "
Immersion up to 1 mIngress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1 m of submersion). It's almost 2yrs old, I don't know what the warranty period is, probably a year I'm guessing.

If it's on the outside, it's just the water droplets that have dries on the screen. Wash the screen and wipe it dry and the marks will go away.
Do not try to wipe the marks off a dry screen, the non reflective coat will come off.

bit like a mobile phone
generally once there is water inside them, they are cactus. They have indicator tabs in there to notify the repairer of water ingress, same as mobiles.
Ask me how I know......LOL

Strke zone & Till - yep I will head in to the dealer in the morning & see what we can work out. I was thinking it's a 2 yr warranty but there is nothing written in my book.

my boat was outside
under a cover which partially blew off (still not sure how) and managed to snag itself on the Furuno 620 which remained covered, but left the lowrance plotter out in the open and it rained that night - pretty hard. The tech opened it and said that it was stuffed due to excessive water ingress as shown by the indicator tabs.
And to top it off it was out of warranty......*sigh*
Didn't have my points backed up either as it turned out in hindsight when I thought I did. Not that I had a lot of points, but I did have some sweet spots down south.

Unlucky mate, did you keep a backup of your marks? Because sadly that's one thing warranty doesn't cover

Insurance will pick it up
Subject to whatever excess you may have on your policy - and don't give up on the warranty issue, I had a recent experience with a Sony LCD TV which was well out of warranty but suddenly went "bar code" - I dropped a note to Sony as a 'previously happy' customer and they had a tech at my home with a replacement within three days .........now that IS customer service and standing by their product - hopefully the manufacturer of the GPS will do likewise, hell it looks really well installed and protected so they damned well should

Yep, I took it in to the dealer & they don't think it will be a problem but they send it to Lowrance over east. The screen had come away from the housing & was totally full of water.

All Boat Business. Never knew you were a member Lowrance. :). Has the unit have all the latest info on it or do I need to download from the site. It already seems a lot faster than my previous one.

Ver4
It should have the latest ver 4.0 which does make it quicker and added some good features.
