Halco Hamma

 Hey guys,

I'm really intrested in Halco's Hamma range minnow style lures. Been looking around for the Hamma 85 and i can't seem to find em, has anyone got one and knows where to buy one? And what's your opinion like fishing with that lure? Thanks!

I've caught a couple of nice

I've caught a couple of nice tailor, as well as many largemouth black bass (overseas, the fish in my avatar) with them, using them as slashbaits, i.e. an slow retrieve, then rip/slash and pause action (they suspend on the pause).  They don't have too hot an action on a fast retrieve, in my humble opinion.  Slow retrieve and slash, with frequent pauses, is the way to go. The 85's are fairly light lures (13g including hooks), so a fairly light rod and little or no wind work best.

Ploddy, Blue angel, Coppa and Gravy train colours have worked for me.  The shallower diving bib seems to get the tailor, but as in all things fishing, your mileage may vary.  They are nice tailor lures, but I have used other lures that have worked as well and better.  Black bass love them though, and the majority of mine have permanently ended up amongst my bass fishing gear!  I'm guessing the larger size Hammas will make great Barra lures, as they kind of roll more than thay wobble on a slow retrieve, if that makes any sense?

Be careful when changing bibs- the little plastic locking pieces are a bit fiddly to remove, and have the habit of disappearing amongst the rocks if you drop them!
