Harbour Dredging

I went to an information night at EFYC on Tuesday - the Port Authority guy said dredging is ahead of schedule, and will be finished in 2-3 weeks. So, allowing a week for the crap to clear - we will be able to dive for some prawns before the cray season starts!!!

Woohoo!!!!

Yeah, was at least 2 inches of whitish silt covering the river bed last dive.  Not nice.

If you do dive, keep us informed Juneka.  Miss my mid week dives.

Cheers Pete

Prawn Dives

Mon, 2010-10-11 13:01

Last time I dived was about 3 weeks ago - there were still fish there... Mind you, one had to bump into them to see them! Visibility was about 18 inches - took me 45 minutes to get half a kilo... Gave up after that...

It didn't take very long once the initial dredging ceased, for the crap to settle.

Anyway - I'll post the results, after my next dive, once they announce the dredging's finished.

Anybody know where to get scallops? I've heard 'somewhere in Cockburn Sound', but that's a bit vague. If you know where to go for them, and you need a boat so you can show me - I'm happy to take mine. Or if you have a boat - you could take ME! :)

For divers definately a pain

For divers definately a pain in the but.

For anglers what a "Gold Mine" of an opertunity to soak baits in the lower stretch of the river or along north mole on the outgoing tide as molloway and other big species congreate at the river mouth picking off prawns, crustaceans and disturbed baitfish

probly wont be another chance like this for a while too come as it would take a really good down poor to stirr the river up again..
