G'day guys, just wondering what the go is with HDMI? I have just bought a HD video camera and my computer and TV both have HDMI sockets... the camera only came with a USB cable for transfering video and I was wondering what differences I would notice with a HDMI cable?

HDMI is for displaying
HDMI is for displaying digital video, rather than transferring data. You'll definately notice the image quality over the standard video cables (the red and white coax ones). If you have a laptop, it probably only has HDMI out. Otherwise, to a desktop it'll just go to the monitor bypassing the computer. You'll still need the USB to get the video on your hard drive.

Ok thanks for clearing that
Ok thanks for clearing that up Matt. So, if I use the USB to get the video to the hard drive and then I view it on the PC the quality would be the same as displaying it with HDMI?

To view on your computer,
To view on your computer, use the USB cable. The difference will be whether your monitor or your graphics card does the scaling, which I doubt you'd really notice. Transferring to your computer first you can also play it at native resolution as well as full screen. Using the HDMI is useful if you want to show the video to some mates with minimal mucking around though.
