HDS 8 with TM260 1kw transducer
Submitted by Jspec on Mon, 2015-08-10 08:32
i bought a TM260 for my hds but just wondering if anyone knows much about how to set these up properly, It does the job but I'm not picking up distinct arches or anything like that, pretty sure it's mounted correct but just the settings on the unit might not be ideal. If anyone could help that would be great and if it's too complicated to explain on here but your positive you know how to set it up and can explain In person then I'll take you out for a free trip to say thanks!

Dont get too hung up on
Dont get too hung up on seeing arches. They are something that you are more likely to see on sounder advertising rather than in the real world unless you are fishing really shallow.

Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

You want get many arches on
You want get many arches on 200 kHz with a narrow 6 degree cone the 260 has. More chance on the wider 50 kHz.

Arches
i was reading that book on how to use an echo sounder and it said a fish has to pass through the dead centre of the beam to create an arch on the screen.
My spots are so secret even the fish don't know about them !

Thanks for the info guys,
Thanks for the info guys, someone private messaged me and went through all the settings and a few were out and I also moved the transducer but that was about 5 weeks ago and a few days later I broke my hip so might be a few more months until I can put it to the test on the new set up. Absolutely hanging to get back out there and give it a go.

Yeah not too bad thanks,
Yeah not too bad thanks, still have 8 weeks left until I can start walking on it if it recovered properly (I'll find that out on Thursday) but will be about 6 months for total recovery time, I have had a few injuries in my time but can honestly say that doing the hip has been the most painful injury and most painful recovery I've ever had to deal with.... It sucks!!
