Actually lighthouse caravan park is shit house compared to the ones in town, they havent touched the showers in years, their salty, no grass, crappy shop, and it's anyones guess if the cafe will open on any given night and then he runs out of food after an hour! those in town albeit further from the cape fishing spots crap all over lighthouse and are a little more expensive but I wont be staying at the lighthouse again.

i agree with stayin at the caravan parks in town. its only a 20 minute drive out to the point anyways. I stayed at the big 4 caravan park, got nothing but good things to say about it. lots of chalets there aswell. As previously mentioned there are lots of landbased options. just make sure you check the marine parks before you wet a line.

Bundegi beach is pretty good

Bundegi beach is pretty good just walk up the beach towards the naval jetty and throw lures and you should get queenies , and little trevally , small macks etc , its also a good spot for decent sharks at night for a bit of fun.

mm ok haha. well when i stayed at the lighthouse caravan park the chalet was nice and clean, pretty large and had enclosed covered verandah and toilet/kitchenette, but yer the showers were pretty average. bundegi is further round, just above the national park and infron of the baot ramp but further from town. guess it depends on what your priorities are.

you can hire dinghies in town too, might be worth checkin out if u dont have any luck on the beach/want to try for other fish.

as a last note be careful of the widlife in the late afternoon, its like someone flicks a switch and they all wana play on the road.

last time i was there stayed

last time i was there stayed in one of the town caravan parks... got a delux chalet.... was quite nice but a bit overboard (had a partner with me, big mistake) cost more than what i needed to spend and had to drive further than what was needed to get to where i wanted to fish (lighthouse caravan park is fine if your just lookin to fish, drink and enjoy the surroundings)... the fact i could fish was even a bonus at times. pick your tides, speak to the guys at tacklkeworld exmouth, any general info will help but if its not working just try something else.

Exmouth advice

Tue, 2011-11-08 10:15

G'Day fridgey,

Town accomodations are handy to fish both sides of Exmouth and your close to the shops, food places & pubs so very convenient.

We fish up there a fair bit and having the dingy option does widen the scope of options. L/B Oysters at the tip is good, other places like Wilbiri/Hunters/Janz/5 mile access's etc on the West side are good for quennies/trevs/spangos and as it warms up it gets better. Halco Rooster poppers 105 & 135, Maria Bullchop stickbaits are some of our favourites up there. As for softplastic the Z-man & snapbacks are great as they dont get chewed up so good value and make sure you have plenty of lures & trace line. We prefer low tide for L/B but a line in the water = more fish

Dingy wise, inside Tandabiddi reef over the shallow broken ground/weed patches/bomies you'll find trevally like goldspots & goldens plus spangos and the above lures works well on these fish/location also. Take some 3.0 sqiid jigs for L/B & boat base as they normally follow in you lures periodically. Inside the reef we prefer a rising tide.

Trolling at the back of Tandabiddi reef when the wind & swell are favourable in the 10-25m of water with Halco 160XDD & 190 XDD & Rapala X-Rap 20 & 30 deepdivers will get you coronation trout/coral trout/ Rankin cod/spaniards/shark macs/tuna etc but get them in quick before the sharks steal your catch. Dropping softpalstics around bomies in that same depth area will get you similar fish also but hold on as they can bury you quickly. For trolling the reef we prefer a rising tide.

Hope that helps, enjoy your trip
