trip north. need advice.

hi all. new to the site and just after some advice regarding a trip north. never ventured up that way so am keen to have a look. Unsure where would best suit us. have a 4x4 and a 4.3 50hp boat. would love to get it out but only somewhere safe. anyone recommend a spot that is small boat friendly and produces good fish? maybe past the west coast region to loose this demersal ban. would love to do some good land based fishing to. I guess a spot that if weather permits can launch the boat or if not can fish some ledges or hopefully both. Also not really set up to be roughing it for days on end so near a town would suit better.

Exmouth. Plenty of options regarding wind direction, boat of that size has plenty of options, some good shore based locations and plenty of Accomodation options.

I have fished a lot about 3 mile off Monkey Mia in a 4.2 m tinnie (30 hp) some good spots alomost due east and due north where you'll catch good snapper (one per angler!), estruary cod and blue bone. April is the best time of year if you can get into the resort, or stay at denham and drive across (26kms). March is good buut the flys can be annoying. Jan / Feb is too windy. Water is generally pretty flat and protected and on the days there isn't any wind the whole gulf glasses over and it is what they call Monkey Mia majic! Have a look in the photo galley under "shark bay encounters" for some of the fish we have caught all within 3 mile of the beach.

Yes, Monkey mia can be a great place for a tinnie. And as for any location it depends iF the winds are kind. I'm still to find any good ground up there, but I may have a look around the areas you have idicated on my next visit. A few miles north of MM in about 3m of water is a good spot for a few blue manas.
