Heading to Exmouth tonight.

Heading up there for a couple of weeks . Weather looking good at the moment . Anyone else up there at the same time . Will be mainly chasing billfish . Hoping the sails are still in the gulf but have no idea what area they concentrate . Think they are between nor west reef and muirons but not sure . Any help would be appreciated . I've done a lot out from tantabiddi but got a crew that is keen to chase sails on spin gear . 6.4mtr boat . Cheers Paul

I'm looking at the Gnaraloo forecast and the weather looking insanely good for this time of year. You've been kissed on the d*^k to score this forecast Paul.

Not the time of year I would have picked to head up there but it's the only time we could all get off .

Gulf sails

Fri, 2023-11-17 13:59

If your chasing sails in the gulf the traditional grounds are from Exmouth reef area up towards Otway reef, sunday island way and back towards the slot between muirons/mainland. Look for birds. Good luck

Thank you

Thanks for the info . It's about where I recon it would be . When they talk about sails it's hard to sort out where to look as the gulf is a big area .

A mate caught a nice blue

A mate caught a nice blue out wide last week. As said above, look for birds in the Gulf to find the sails. Most good operators race up to bait balls and throw out livies for them. We caught a few trolling skipping gars last year at the Mackerel Islands but not many troll in the Gulf.

Only just saw your post . Up at Exy now and gulf not firing . Went to launch at tantabiddi and the ramp is useless , full of sand build up and too shallow for us to use . Would only be able to launch and retrieve at high tide . Even small boats are bottoming out and  chewing up props .
been launching at bundegi and heading round the west side . Only got one stripe Marlin to the boat so far . Now the wind has turned to shit so will do a bit more in the gulf

 I was there late

I was there late October/early November last year and the wind was horrendous. Pretty dodgy this time of year.
