Hello from Northern Hemisphere
Hi All,
my name is Tommy and I registered just a few days ago. I found fishwrecked through YouTube after Adam posted some vids of jumping marlin :)
I’m based in the Republic of Ireland but originally I came from Poland.
Please never mind that I’m on the Northern Hemisphere almost exactly on the opposite side of the world. Australia was always the place that I considered the fishing destination. Probably because of Rex Hunt’s shows that I was watching back in the days in Poland as a kid.
Because in the next year or so I’m planning longer holidays it is quite possible that I will finally fly over to Australia. So I thought that I may register on the forum and over the time get some knowledge about fishing in your country. So when I finally set my foot on Australian soil I will have some local knowledge.
Here in Ireland I’m mainly enjoying fishing for sharks (almost exclusively blue sharks as due to commercial pressure other species of sharks were wiped out and are very rare these days). You can see some of my fishing in my blog http://wedkarskieprzygody.blogspot.com/ although probably only photos will be meaningful to you as my blog is in polish.
So "Hi there" again to all of ye and I hope you don’t mind if I post some questions on the forum from time to time.
Cheers
Tommy

Hi Tommy and welcome to the site, Western Australia is a fantastic place for a holiday and hope that you get to come and enjoy.
Fishwrecked is an excellent website with a large amount of local combined knowledge, and members are mostly a very friendly bunch of people.
Don't forget to post up fishing adventures of your own from the 'other side of the world'

Yep welcome Tommy. Australia
Yep welcome Tommy.
Australia surely hassome of the best fishing locations and variety of fish species than anywhere else in the world, mainly due to our lower population numbers not aopplying too much pressure to the fish stocks.
the Local governments are attempting to introduce measures to be able to continue sustaining a healthy fishery, and altho a few speed humps have been found, are all well ont he right track to continuing to be able to offer excellent fishing around our country.
Would be very interested to see and hear some of your trips from that side of the world. Certinally would be different to our experiences in Aus im sure.
Plenty of places for you to visit if you decide to make the trip down under, and many many top fishing locations to try.

Hi Tommy
I dont think you'll need to twist too many arms here to get people out fishing should you make it to Western Australia! There are plenty of local options, but for sheer awesomeness in fishing - head north!
better get used to the heat though......LOL

Welcome Tommy
enjoy the site and mag. Just sing out with any questions and I am sure someone will have some knowledge of the topic and be willing to share their views.
If you want to use the search function in the left hand margin you can get lots more info on your chosen destination/tackle/fish species etc.
Cheers
