Help Please - Transducer Placement for Haines Warrior 620SF
Hi All - been a while since I've posted. I'm trying to help a mate who has a Warrior 620SF.. "Shamwari" is her name.
He's having a heap of issues getting a quality read with his sounder - 10 inch Furuno.. and just can't seem to get it sorted.. to the extent of having the Furuno Tech's involved and taking the boat for a run with them in it. The outcome wasn't what he wanted to hear as the tech's feel there is a constant flow of airated water that is effecting the Furuno's performance (295) with the read from the transducer.
He has the transom mount tranny 525 ST 600w AND has also purchased the p61 thru hull tranny as well to try and get this sorted. He's asked me to post on Fishwrecked in the hope of resolving the matter as he's just about exhausted options at this stage.
He's owned the boat for a good coupla years now with no intention of selling as he's just had fitted a new Yammie 200 4 stroke in the last year. Just wondering if anyone else has suffered similar issues and what you have done to resolve it. If you can help him out he/ we would really appreciate it.
Thanks Fishwreckers

Transducers
never heard of a P 61 but i did fit a P 79 to my old fibreglass boat, but was only 600w and shooting through the fibreglass as well it ran out of puff at about 80m mate had problems like you describe so fitted a B 164 through hull 1kw and that was fantastic but if your hull isn't straight and true I don't know what you should do. Maybe put a straight edge over it to see if there is anything out of line, would phone Haines Hunter as well see what they reckon cheers Ace

Transducer
Any reason he has gone for the basic transducers on a commercial 295 type unit? You would normally use them on a 628 for example.
There may be other options for transducers but they will all cost money

Good luck mate, I have a
Good luck mate, I have a hull that is an air producing prick of a thing and I've installed through hulls. It's ultra annoying!!!
My next move is to try and lower the through hull transducer and fashion some kind of fairing block to try to sweep the air around the transducer. This is a huge job that I'm putting off for now..

Thanks guys - pretty sure
Thanks guys - pretty sure he's been in touch with Haines as well!
I know he's had the Furuno guys out in the boat - mentione to me the other day.
Tim - No mate - no idea - I'm sure its the 10 inch screen furuno - maybe I've got my numbers wrong
Gruntre - jeez that does sound like a job...and a half .. check on here for thru hulls - I've been doing some h/work reading up and there are some similar efforts with thru hulls which are beautifully finished.
I've mentioned a tranny pole - lol .. that doesnt sound good - apart from a rooster tail it may at least give him the clear water needed to get a good read.
I've pm'd Johno who used to have the same boat- maybe able to pick his brains and see if he had similar issues.

Check your model numbers and
Check your model numbers and repost as Tim said 295 is a full on commercial unit about 5 grand worth and running a $100 transducer doesn't sound right and they are diplexed transducers which may or may not be a issue. Waste of a good sounder if running those transducers.

My bad Fw ers - He's running the FCV 587 NOT the other I'd previously mentioned. I hope this correct info will help with the Sage advice you can share as I know many of you will be using the FCV 585 -587 models. Lokk forward to further advice. Cheers

Info
Info makes a bit more sense now. Do you have any photos of where it has been mounted before?
These boats have an engine pod type design and the transducer is normally mounted on there.
