Help! Travelling from UK to Exmouth
Submitted by timwalden on Sun, 2012-06-10 05:24
hello all,
First of all thanks to Bungle for his post, very helpful. I have travelled from the UK to WA twice now, and on my next trip I want to head up north to the exmouth area. For this trip I will fish landbased, and hire a car to get around. I have read all the reports on this and other forums. Some people seem to really struggle to catch anything decent up here, whilst others catch loads.
What I'd like to do is lure fish in the day for tuna, GTs, quennies, mackerel etc, whilst at night I'd like to fish for sharks and shovel nose rays.
As I'm travelling all the way from the UK I want to make sure I get something big, so can anyone tell me what my chances are if I fished the area in January?
Thanks as always,
Tim

Its funny hearing people ask
Its funny hearing people ask about whether they will catch fish in the north of Australia. No problem Tim ... you will catch fish ! You should catch heaps of fish during the day and will be able to sleep at night. It will be very hot during January so you need to keep the liquids up if you intend to fish hard each day but the bonus is the wind may not be so strong.
Inside the gulf around Bundegi there are heaps of queenies and trevs most of the time, size varies, with a fish a cast not uncommon during a session. Walk out at low tide and cast poppers and metals... the noise of the poppers seems to attract big sharks ... but that makes it all the more exciting, they wont hurt you !!
For Mackies and Tuna , you can try the tip of the gulf area around the lighthouse , if the winds are right you can put out a balloon as well. Go for a drive around the tip of the gulf you will find endless places to try.
