Herring around Margaret River

Has anyone been catching any herring down south lately?
6 months ago they were everywhere, you'd always come home with a few. Now I can't find them no matter where I try.
Are they seasonal? Do they hate big winter swell?
Or have I just lost my touch?

Best in Autumn but still
Best in Autumn but still shouldnt be too hard to find a feed.
You'll find that any water that looks good for hezzas will hold them but maybe they are only in a small little area within that area.
Often you have to land the cast same spot each time to get em.
Keep on trying and you'll find them.

I know they don't like the
I know they don't like the dirty water much and when there's lots of winter weed they feed off the maggots etc that are hatched out of that so go off the bite. I know up our way in November we get the bush fly swarms with the first real heat and the ocean is covered in the bloody things fish go right off the bite as they are full of em.

Mandurah cut
You can get your catch limit every time on an incoming tide down at the Mandurah cut fishing on the northern groyne at the first fishing landing.
Sinking berley cage and prawn bait is your best bet.
