Herring feed

hi everyone, I figured that probably the easiest fish to catch for a dinner is herring, because they school up in good numbers, they taste good, and easy to fillet. Anyway the main thing that I wanted to know is where, in metro waters, are the herring currently firing? I'm going to try and get out for a herring fish in a couple weeks time. I can probably travel to the dawesville cut but that would be the furthest that I can go. I do know that the cut is awesome for herring

Stumped

Yeah mate love to help , cause  its  great to see your still keen as ever , and are targetting a species ( best way to find fishing success) but as

discussed on here before , herring numbers off Perth , have fallen in a few short years.

Some of our favorite haunts , that I would gladly tell you about,  just are not producing anymore.

Dont let my gloomy picture put you off, I still have mates whom get them from the shore regually , and the cut is as good as place as any to start.

Your past captures show you are willing to stick it out , so thats half the battle won.

good luck , and as mentioned burley and oil ,( not to much ) is the key.

Lachie you have got the right idea about Dawesville Cut, been going there lately and getting some nice fish on lures, seen some fat skippy and a monster black bream caught there lately. I normally get there around 8.30am to avoid the crowds, its quiet packed earlier in the mornings. Had very good success with tassie devil lures, cast out and retrieve slowly and they will be crawling all over it, last week i had 3-4 fish chasing after my lure each cast. Good luck mate hope you get some nice ones

 Sorry for the late reply

Sorry for the late reply mate, best bet of catching tailor there is to fish the rocks facing the ocean ( where the channel enters the Indian Ocean) can be dangerous if swell is up. If u try and get there for the high tide, its possible some tailor might be around even in the inner parts of the cut. I got some nice tailor this morning at floreat on stickbaits , so there is a spot u can give a go if u want some tailor.
