If you start your own thread I think multiple images work, but before the upgrade you were able to insert images via comments which opened up a user photo list you could add them into with limited storage space and they had to be 500x500.  If you did a few multiple image comments, eventually you filled your photo box, and ended out deleting old images from the list.  I think this deleted them from the comment, leaving a small white box with red cross where the images should be.

Having a look at this comment box I dont think you can upload images into comments atm?

no  what i mean when you create a forum topic and upload several pictures they come up in the created thread. now all the ones the threads that were created with images before the 'upgrade' do not come up.
