g'day mate and welcome

try the narrows bridge at night or i like to fish up around guildford (garvy park) for the bream.

if traveling is a problem then behind the casino next to the bridge, south side has pulled some nice bream as well, get there on the train with a small walk.

as for ocean, head to woodmans point groynes/jetty always seems to be a lot of people fishing there when i go past in the boat.

good luck mate

First day in weeks the wind

Thu, 2011-06-16 09:52

First day in weeks the wind is down, the cat loves the lumpy swells

I don't normally live by seabreeze as you probably know it can be a bit misleading, if it was too lumpy probably would have just done some squiding.

No takers so it might be a maitnence day!!

Never used that site before

Thu, 2011-06-16 10:18

Never used that site before matt pretty cool.

Noticed there was no live bouy weather for Rotto?? Sometimes I don't mind heading out in the bigger swells as long as the wind is down, that being said I always have a backup plan ie sqiuding or whiting fishing. If safety is an issue I won't head deep, but if a had a dollar for everytime I have hit the water with the squiding gear and the weather forecast hasn't been what it should have been I would be a very rich man!!

Heading over the stragglers might have been a little interesting today though, might go for a surf instead

No worries Anthony

chuck that site in your bookmarks mate. It's pretty much the first thing I check even before the wind sites being a bodyboarder.

there's heaps of information on the net if you know where to look

Wind forecasts, swell bouys, surf/beach cams it's all there.

Sorry to hijack your thread Hans.

When the weather looks a bit better and I'm back in Perth (I go back to site tomorrow) I am sure i'll be able to get you out for a fish, hopefully put you onto something that will stretch your arms. I have plenty of spare deep sea gear.

Boys as you can tell Im pretty keen to get out with how the weather has been latley, starting to get a little jumpy it's been to long!! Another week onsite I'm sure the weather gods will smile on use while I'm away!!

Size

when fishing in Aust, take note of the size and limit of the catch ( you can check out from www.fish.wa.gov.au. ).You can also drop by their office in the city to get some free measuring stickers. You must also know the culture (good sportmanship I would say), as not every fishes up the hook is going to the pot. Generally, they are well handled, and if under size, it'll be release with care (except for blowies). ...hmm, I wished I was well informed of all these when I first arrived too, but anyway, learn from the locals around me...

Hey Han,

Welcome to Perth and also Fishwrecked.

I myself is quite new to this forum and Perth still... though I have spend almost 3 full years here, i still find myself constantly learning new things and especially the culture.

Perth is really a great place and there are really nice/kind people around.

Fishing is really great here but like what Kakadufong said, we need to go by the rules here and learn to protect the fish stock here. Take only what is right :)

I do fish a bit in North mole but my success rate is not very high either. However, i have caught herring, garfish, stingray, salmon trout, tailor and legal size skippy from the mole. The bait i use was coral prawns and sometime mullies fillet.

Another good place to go is the Ammo Jetty in woodmans point. There you can catch bait fish, silver bream, slimmy mackerel, garfish, yellow tail, skippy, tailor, stingrays and random fish which is quite fun. However, most of the skippy, tailor and bream are undersize we need to release them. I usually just use prawn cutlets with small baitholder to fish them. People do ballooning for sharks and bigger species too. It's a nice place to go, you will see lots of people fishing there... but just be careful if you are fishing at night as there are many cases of car windows smashed and etc...

Good luck with your fishing and hopefully you will catch something decent soon!:)

Were you fishing at Capo D'orlando Drive

Fri, 2011-06-17 09:40

At the end of the southern wall of Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour on sunset last night? Couple of people in a small white sedan?

Anyway, I live in Beckenham and like Anthony I am keen to catch up for a fish some time also.  PM me your contact info and see if we can head out sometime.
