Hilux servicing

Hey guys,
Need to do 150k service on my 08 hilux 4x4 sr5, timing belt and water pump.
Can anyone recommend a good dealer or mechanic who has had a good service experience.
Was thinking of taking to Toyota at wangarra, they quoted 950 - 350 timing belt, 600 water pump.
Not sure if this a good price as i still neex to ring around for other quotes.
I also dont have time to do myself.
Cheers

Dont go to a dealer

Once she's outa warranty DONT go to a dealer mate...

There might be the odd one who retains enough good mechanics to keep their average up ( in terms of retaining a good rep and provides a thorough enough service ) but IMO its some of the smaller joints that need and usually have a good rep with quality tradesmen... They need to have an eye for detail because at the end of the day they all should be able to complete a full service on most if not all vehicles as a part of their profession but its the little things they pick up early, If they can give you a heads up you can nip a small problem in the bud before it becomes a costly exercise...

Thats of course just my opinion but based on my experience with an 07 Lux thats now clocked up 250k thats how i've found it.

For the record my Lux had 30k on it when i bought it and apart from a tiny weep in a water pump seal that was replaced mostly under warranty and a wheel bearing it has not missed a beat, I hope you get a good run out of yours to.

Still the Ute of choice for me.

$350 timing belt?

Tue, 2017-11-14 12:58

That sounds a bit much, belt cost me $80 from Mandurah Toyota and a couple of hours to change, including a break for a cupa. D4D motor.

Yah that was a typo sorry 250

Yah that was a typo sorry 250 for timing belt, and that is just a straight swap out. Hyd tensioner and pulley are extra. 850 all up.
I rang toyota mindarie and it was a 1000 or a bit more ( his words ) for a 150 service and water pump change out. The guys was really arrogant when i asked questions.
I need to go with a mobile mechanic now as a few things have popped up and cant really afford to take time off to get the car to the dealer.
So will ring around tomorrow.
