Hinged hatches and doors

Hi all. Can anyone tell me if there is such thing as a lockable, water tight access door? Like the white placcy ones but something a bit more substantial and lockable. Maybe ally or stainless?

Cant find an "off the shelf" example.

Cheers mick.

You can get them, I fitted one during my apprenticship, it was cast ally with a rubber seal rated to like 4 metres or something, from what I remember it was stupid expensive like $1500 for a 500x500 hatch

This is the one i fitted, really high quality but pricey

Have a look on the yakfishwest website or facebook pages. These guys were changing round hatches to square ones.

They have to be watertight and lockable for the kayaks.

We always had them on crayboats over the skippers seat, for ventilation, even with a flybridge over the top. Generally not considered to be trafficable, but you could put the odd foot on them if required. The cast alloy ones are out there in a range of sizes , are very strong but expensive.
