Hobie Revolution 13 or Adventure/Adventure island?

Hi all,

I am thinking of getting a Hobie but will use it mainly for offshore fishing.

I would like to get some opinions on Revo 13, AI and Adventure Kayak.

Is it easier to paddle in and out with a revo or adventure in comparison to an outback?

How do you usually transport, on rack or trailer?

Thanks,

Karak

I have the Adventure

and I reckon its the go for offshore conditions coz its fast through the water, paddles well in addition to pedalling and cuts through waves where the Outback tends to hull slap on waves. The Adventure is  wet ride however and you will have a wet bum in lumpy seas.

The Adventure Island would be my dream yak, as you have a few options with them - full trimaran with the sail, outrigger style and the basic Adventure mode.

I carry my Adventure on roof racks and it isnt too hard to get on and off.

The Island would be better suited to a trailer so you can keep the outriggers attached for quick set up and launch.

The outback is a good river, inshore yak in my opinion and has heaps of storage space etc, but I do prefer the Adventure for offshore work.

I guess the Revo is a good compromise between the Outback and the Adventure too!

Revo or Adventure

Either of the above are great offshore kayaks as they are a bit more sleeker and faster through the water, the outback is wider and a bit more stable,i love my revo I recon its the most universal yak

storage was the main selling point for me not the speed...plenty off room for the bigger fish in the outback and also revo but you pretty limited in the adventure unless you store everyrhing on deck.....standing on the outback is easy as well in any conditions.  As gadsy said there is a bit of slap and its not as sharp in the entry like the revo or adventure but it still gets along quite effortlesly :)

Your welcone to try it sonetime

We got a good view watching dutchie try and stand on his outback at wilderness island. Hilarious haha!
I own a Revo 13 and for me it was a compromise because I ddint really know what I was going to use it more for.
In hindsight I am more in estuaries, inshore, river and creeks and wished the PA12 was available at the time.
If I was more full on into offshore id go with the AI full sail and outriggers setup but would rather get out in my stink boat for those occasions.
As far as speed goes I don't see an issue with either Revo, Outback or PA12. One afternoon heading back to camp the weather turned bad and everyone hammered it across the channel didn't see anyone get left behind significantly(apart from scotty as his drive malfunctioned). Setting up my mirage drive to suit the length of my legs made a huge difference for me.

The other appeal for the Revo for me was its light weight and ease to load on top of the car on my own. I caravan to a lot of nice places and kills me when im restricted to landbased fishing.
