Hey all, come January my girlfriend and I will be heading on a holiday up North staying in kalbarri for 3 nights carnarvon for 5 nights (family reasons) and staying in exmouth and the ningaloo area for 5 days. We are taking two kayaks rigged for fishing but these are slow and we are fairly inexperienced anyone know of any safe easy spots where we can drop a line? Also my goal for fishing on this trip is to catch a quennies or trevs on poppers or chromies any tips or locations would be much appreciated (land based)! thanks guys

The river at Kalbarri is a good place to start
Plenty of good fishing in there and great places to explore. However, the river mouth is quite dangerous and not a place for the inexperienced.

Yep the Kalbarri river mouth
Yep the Kalbarri river mouth is definitely not a good place to go especially if you are on a yak! There are lots of other places to explore around the area though, just head into the local tackle shop and they will tell you where has been fishing well. You prob wont even need the yaks up there cos the land based action is pretty solid around that time of the year.
