End of busselton Jetty

Thu, 2013-09-19 00:25

The jerks we've got on the shire council stopped people fishing from the very end of the Busso. jetty in 2010 the reason being they want to protect the marine environment from us rec-fishers.Bloody arseholes.

 One mile jetty in Carnarvon

Thu, 2013-09-19 04:17

One mile jetty in Carnarvon has had a few fires over the years. I remember fishing there as a kid when it still had the toilet block at the end. Prawn jetty used to go well too. Caught plenty of Tailor and Dart off there as a kid. They just didn't like you fishing next to them if they were unloading trawlers.

Naval pier in Exmouth was another favourite. Did quite well fishing off there. Seemed most of the town knew the security guards and it was open slather unless a boat was tied up.

Driving the coast track from Blowholes to Coral Bay is another one that's gone to the history books too.

Prawning Jetty

Thu, 2013-09-19 07:49

Still can fish whats left of the prawning jetty, that is if you want to wade out up to your neck and climb up on whats left. They've pulled about 5-6 sets of piles out to stop anyone getting on it [insurance] The outlet pipe is on the left side now.

The long jetty mob are busy collecting money to repair the end section so don't be scared to donate to a worthy cause..

Its fishing well for millions of undersize mulloway, sharks yellow fin brim and tailor at the moment.

Thu, 2013-09-19 05:55

My rock here in Darwin, where they are now building a gas plant. Used to catch everything there, various trevs, queenfish, barra, cobia, cod, grouper ( my biggest is over 5 foot) black jew, blue and threadfin salmon, mackeral, sharks, even bream.

spot was only 15mins from my house and I could park my car right next to me with my esky and dogs.

You've never been allowed to fish off any jetty at South of Perth Yacht Club.  They're just much better at enforcing it now.

I've fished off a jetty there

Thu, 2013-09-19 09:23

I've fished off a jetty there half a dozen times, never been told outright to piss off. The few people that have said anything just say 'dont leave stinking blowies or bait lying around'

 Harbour master would tell

Thu, 2013-09-19 19:43

Harbour master would tell you to bugger off pretty quick if he saw you. Most members couldn't give a shit, trusting your not leaving hooks on mooring lines or making a mess.

The numbers of dead blowies left to rot on Como jetty will only result in that being banned too I guess. 30+ at times.

Yeh well I only go off the fueling jetty, don't cast around boats etc. While we're on the subject, ALL the yacht clubs around Perth should be on this list. You get to know how much you can get away with at certain ones :P

Thu, 2013-09-19 08:44

When the weather's trashy or during demersal ban I'd love to be able to go over to Canning Dam and catch some fresh water fish

The concern is the pollution to the water, well you make it Soft Plastic/Jig/Fly or lure only.
Only electric outboards on small craft

At the end of the day things like Feral pig feces are doing more harm to the water supply than responsible fishermen would

Fully agree, a few spots mentioned on this post i used to fish , but the Water Corp locking up our Dams etc just plain sucks. Thier excuses of polution are just plain bullshit. Every other state allows access and have no problems ( in fact the people that fish the systems are the first to recognise and report any problems )

They just don't want us in there to see the mess they are making .

 The Point Peron fishing rock

Thu, 2013-09-19 07:43

The Point Peron fishing rock platform, when you could climb down to the lower section, before they blew up the rock formation, and then fenced it off.

Long Point beach fishing, when you could drive on the sand tracks, past the shacks, park on the beach, and catch a feed of herring or tailor.

NW Cape jetty

Thu, 2013-09-19 08:03

The jetty used to be open to workers at the cape facility but got closed off to allow diving groups access

If you knew someone with access you could go fishing with them as a guest.

Had some Dhead on BM tried

Sat, 2013-09-21 20:30

Had some Dhead on BM tried telling me that fishing at Ascot Waters wasn't allowed & that he had formed a vigilante group to bash anybody that was caught fishing there. You would have thought somebody that claims to live there would know that it's only fishing between the bridges that is banned, at least last time I was there. Some people can't help it I guess, they are just born stupid.

100% correct, its fishing

Sun, 2013-09-22 00:58

100% correct, its fishing between the wooden bridge and the concrete jetty that is banned. apparently the marina was once banned but not inforced? may I ask who on bm mentioned this?

I wouldn't give a name out

Sun, 2013-09-22 07:55

I wouldn't give a name out even if I could remember it mate. Been a fair while since I've fished there but as far as I know it's always just been between the bridges that's banned because it's a sanctuary zone (birds I think). If there was ever a ban in the marina then it was never sign posted & it wasn't enforced.
