how to join 50lb mono to 150lb mono and castable

Hi all
Decided to have a crack at catching a shark and had one hook up in 2 trips. Got tailwhipped pretty quick and the 50lb mono was no match. Looks like i need to run a leader of at least 150lb. I am running 50lb off an alvey casting and slide baiting baits. I can't think of how to join the 50 to the 150 without destroying my guides on the cast, only idea i have had is to join it with a short piece of braid and do 2 fg knots back to back. I think running braid on the alvey, fg knot to a mono leader could be pretty dangerous.

just use a 100lb mono section
Or a windon like the man said
Both better options than braid

Is a wind on just a loop to loop connection between the 50 to 150lb mono? Or does it have a supple piece of braid??? I'm going up to 150lb as I have lost a few on 100lb leader in the past. How would this wind on cast through the guides?

Use an Albright or tangle knot
We used to join 60 and 80 lb mono to 20 lb with an Albright when we still used mono. Your sizes are larger ,principle should still be the same. Tangle knot is just like an Albright, but turned each way in a spiral rather than the precise turns of the other knot. Should be able to google it. I haven't used mono for anything serious for years as a mainline ,only reel I have with it now is a little threadline for catching gar off the beach at Winderabandi. Only using mono because it is too expensive when you get smoked? I can appreciate that.
I you manage to beach one of our poor, "endangered" whaler species, give him one for me.

Use a windon leader which
Use a windon leader which already has a Dacron loop and tie a bimini twist in your 50lb mainline to create a loop in that. the bimini doesn't need to be long (400-600mm is plenty)as its primary purpose is to create a loop

Is there any way to avoid
Is there any way to avoid tying a knot in the mono to join it? Can you go 50lb to Dacron to 150lb?
have been so impressed with braid to mono with the fg knot, no knot in the mono.

Bimini will give you 100%
Bimini will give you 100% line breaking strain so I use it for everything from barra to marlin with no failures at the knot. I use it on all my baitcasters with braid and game gear spinning and overheads using 10-37kg mono

a plait is better
in mono for me. Get that annoying sqiggle of line with a bimini. 80lb dacron takes 150lb leader. Or go hollow spectra in 130lb. It is half the thickness of dacron. oh, and four times as expensive

Dont know how to explain this
Dont know how to rexplain this and I'm not sure how to load pics on an existing thread.
I leave about 1 metre of hollow sprectra off the end of my windon, I then thread my mainline through the sprectra for about 1 cm, push it out and tie off with a hangmans loop. I take the tag end (1m length) and weave it through the Spectra for 40-50cms and then push the balance up the middle. I whip finish the 1cm end and finish with a touch of super glue. The finished knot is smaller than the 150lb leader.
cons:-
can't do that on the beach\boat, if main line snaps.
need a needle to do it.
Pros:
Really small knot
easy to cast
works well if you have 50lb main line (0.5 + mm)
works well for sliding
tested a few on my tow bar and the main line breaks long before the knot does.
