How lucky was this

Anchored in the Sound around well south of the D9 last night, when retrieving the anchor this came up, nearly an expensive trip.  Sounder was alight with fish but not a single touch other than a huge blue swimmer crab that fell off at the side of the boat .....oh well you can't have everything

Relatively new 12mm rope

i was stunned when the winch pulled it up, anchor came up easily so there must have been something really sharp down there.....ok snapper whisperer as you were watching any thoughts on a lit up sounder with literally fish in a ten metre column yet not a touch

Probably dived it a 100 times

But was well south of it and as we used to scallop fish the Sound south of the D9 apart from spoil banks Which I was anchored to sit over as that was where the fish were there is nothing that might do that damage ......other boats were much closer to the 9 than I .....anchor only used perhaps 6 times since winch and new rope with 20 metres of chain fitted so no wear and tear (until now ) .....cut in two places around a metre apart ?

Back in the late 70s the bloke I used to fish with would dive on it every time and grab half a dozen anchors with out fail. Either he got them for people who lost them or they'd get sold at the pub.

And a complete mast, mainsail and all the soft rigging ........was going to go back for the mast but someone else retrieved it.

Hence well aware of the risks of anchoring too close or on the 9 itself .....still cannot work out what might have caused that damage And sure as hell won't dive that area at this time of the year
