We stayed home
felt so weird as we are usually away in Leeman, very quiet Easter Break, did a bit of cleaning and old fart got in the boat, did a good clean, counting sinks, hooks, spare oil for motor etc for our trip to Leeman this Sunday and hopefully come back with a feed of fish and a photo or too.
Phone call from a friend in Leeman, said that some idiots went out in the howling southerly (they on Sea Rescue) yesterday and the caravan was packed like a tin of sardines.

Tried to push out to the Montes. Wind never stopped blowing all weekend so hid behing a couple of islands just off Fortescue and speared some Trout.
Tried to recover the weekend with a quick session out front of Hedland this morning. Still blowing but got a few fish. Will put some pics up in Pilbara section shortly.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

toodled around the sound
had about half a dozen boats buzzing around us at Mewstones (which is frustrating, its a sizable reef fish another part or go somewhere else) where we managed a tailor (56cm) on about the 4th cast but noticed some big sambos cruising the area chasing fish and we failed to get another hit in the next hour.
Then wandered back to Woodies and picked up 15 squid for lunch and came home.
Other than that it was renovating and talking with house builders.

Took the family to Yanchep
We took the caravan to Yanchep and the extended family came up for a visit too. On Easter evening we all went for a fish and caught our first Tailor from the beach. Everyone had a great time, with yummy fresh tailor for tea.

we got out friday night for another prawning/drinking session in the swan (got 2 prawns). got another haul of tailor and no rays this time.
the wind got a bit much so headed off for more drinking in a protected bay, another butifull nights sleep on the boat.
a mate went out sunday night and got 1kg of prawns, so they are on there way.
i will give it ago next weak as well.
hanging out to get out for a fish as well.....sooo hard......soooo many choices.......
on another note, i got asked where my anchor light was (fair enough) as i anchored in the day time i just forgot all about it......
but c'mon guys, i am anchored with more lights going than the queen marry (cabin lights, deck lights and 2x 150watt flood lights) and they want me to turn on a 5watt anchor light.
just didnt make sense..but rules are rules hey, and we all have to obey them.

I went out on Monday for some crays. Dived 35m about 10 mile off Two Rocks first, boated 5 crays for 4 keepers. Conditions were pretty lumpy but no whitecaps.
2nd dive we decided to hit some unknown ground that looked tempting, the sounder showed fish over a small hard patch. We either missed the mark or we were completely wrong, as we were treated to miles of sand and weed. Thats the way it goes sometimes though.
Had a couple of green faces on board too, which was more Corona based I suspect.
Busselton next week. Can't wait.

Hit the shallows!
Pete D wanted to do a bit of shallow water (30-40m) demersal jigging as he hasnt done much before. The conditions look suitable so off we went, Pete, Brad and myself went on Pete's tub and fished out of Tworocks!
The aim was to show Pete and Brad the techniques to identify & catch fish on jig. Pete's first Dhufish was about 7-8kg which was a great fight on lighter driftbait gear, ended up with multiple Dhufish, blackarse, swallowtail, sambos' and baldchin all on jigs. (Photo's kept for an article)
The Zest baitfish jig 120g in orange and in blue working well. Brad lost a thumper Dhufish estimated 10-15kg but wasnt giving it heaps and swam down to structure and bricked him...dohhhh.......was a good day fella's!

headed out to rotto on
headed out to rotto on monday , no bait , just trolling gear for macks/tuna and a couple of jigs and plastics thrown in.
trolled from parker point west. got 2 YTK's off the west end.
trolled round some more till 2 hrs before high tide for nowt.
switched to jigs and plastics for tide change to fish some likely lumps for 1 good dhuey (on plastic).
back to trolling the west end where a few salmon were hanging out. had lots of fun with those guys for a few hrs , felt like we were a little too close to the reef on more than 1 occasion.
a really good day in all.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.
