Ideas Wanted for a Trip North

Hey guys,

Me and a mate are going to head north for a week trip during early november. (8/11 - 13/11)

I'm chasing some advice / ideas on where to go? At this stage we are thinking  one of the stations - Quobba, Warroora, Gnaraloo. Undecided on whether we will take the boat or not. Shark bay / steep pt is also on the cards. The aim is to get stuck into the reef species and have a bit of a crack at pelagics. I'm esspecially keen to test my new RA 120. We will be freediving.

Seeking advice in general but also;

weather we can expect

do's and dont's

accomodation options

4x4 access

ok to spearfish (marine park regulations etc)

any other ideas / advice welcome!

Cheers in advance

Pete

Anywhere from Jurien to Exmouth will be windy, so expect that. Marine parks start at the southern end of the Ningaloo Reef around the north end of Quobba all the wat to Exxie, so check out the maps here for info on where you can and cant fish.

I personally would suggest areas like the Exmouth Gulf, Shark Bay for best shelter from wind, and a few options if it does blow up.

Camping is the best, cost effective options, Peron National Park in Shark Bay is cheap, mostly 4x4.

Others will have other ideas i'm sure.

be careful what you shoot if you go to exmouth or gnaraloo. check up all the rules, as not all of it is correctly sign posted or clear.

you will almost definately get a fair bit of wind at that time of year. might be better looking very south, albany, esperence, etc.

Ranger

Might pay to ring the ranger at Steep Point to make sure that there are vacancies, couple of blokes went down there from here a fortnight back and place was chockers, told to turn round and go elsewhere to camp.
