If so lucky - boats on Canals

If you are that lucky and lived on the canals what is the opinion about choices to protect the boat.
Leaving it in to soak, then antifoul
Boat lifter
Drive on floating "bricks" - Float bricks
Net pontoon - the motions of the boat in the net rubs off growth?? Sea Pen
Old man is thinking about this so doing a little homework for him.
Like my privacy a little to much for this, plus $$$$ to move there a BIG issue, but still might store my boat there for ease off use.
cheers from anyone that can help.

here's me thinking 10m searay (your old mans boat)

What about just pulling it out once a fortnight/month or so and high pressure cleaning.

Edit :had a place in Ravenswood for many years and would leave the tinny in for easy a month with no probs. and just spent some time on the canals in Dudley park with boat (my avatar) tied to jetty with no probs at all.

boat lifts are great but an ali I could trailer I personally would worry about it.

Boat lift is he way I'd go.

Boat lift is he way I'd go. Stuff anti foul if you don't need it. Pain in the arse to do each year and to scrap the weed of the bottom after the boat sitting for a bit. Mate of mine has got one to lift his 7.5mtr Genesis.

Cost

For the cost of any sort of lift or floating dock I'd just pull the boat out once a month and clean it.

Water temperature

Wed, 2017-01-25 21:40

The temperature of the water will dictate how often you will need to pull the boat out and give the hull a good high pressure cleaning.
Warm water quicker marine growth on the hull, cool water less rapid growth

If you let it go the marine growth will eat through the ali hull reasonable quick so you will have to keep an eye on the rate of growth and act accordingly.

Variuos boat lifts

if you can spend the money buy a boat lift, no anti foul to change the hull running speed or repairs or upkeep, i maintain a 11.5 mt rescue vessel , we originally had an inflatable unit which always had leaks , we change to a airberth and dont look back , no maintenance or damage issues with all our different skippers hitting it ,  i have seen alot of smaller units that you refer to as bricks whcih are the same although i dont know how hard the others are when you drive up on them and then winch the boat clear and totaly dry .  The other type with mesh illiminate growth by the rubbing action on the hull but electrolysis can still occur by the hull being wet as we found out the hard way and $$$ to repair under side of our naiad hull
