if you could only catch one fish

thought this might make for an interesting topic

if you could only ever catch one more fish in your lifetime what would it be, in  other words what is your fish of a lifetime

for me it would be a mulloway over 30 kg from the beach, i've done this from a boat but the beach just holds a special sort of challenge

I know what you're talking about Chrisp. A mate of mine caught an 80kg Dogtooth a few years back at Scott reef. He got the whole thing on video what a fight. They were in deep water at the time right on dusk. Took him 45 mins to get it up.

Bigger than my fish PB. I don't really care what species, as long as the PBs keep increasing. A big dogtooth on jig would be awesome though.

Sun, 2012-03-25 08:41

Even though I dont agree with killing whales... Id be forced to harpoon a whale I suppose...

At least Id know Id still have enough fillets to last a while!!!!      Now thats fishing for the future!!! lol

Would certainly be a PB....

But for pure sport only.... 3m - 4m Mako Shark.....   Their antics beat the crap out of a marlin anyday!!!

Just type in Mako madness on youtube to see how they fight!!!

Either a big marlin or a big dogtooth (the thought of a tuna being as powerfull and dirty as a big kingie has gotta have something going for it).

Cheers

FISH OF A LIFETIME

Sun, 2012-03-25 15:49

Believe me as a fisho who's spent countless hours on the sea catching countless critters, and constanly looking for that fish of a lifetime, I've put a lot of thought into this question....

My answer would be.....

Species not too important but would Have to be between 50 to 70 kilo and have a set of TITS...

COS IF FISH HAD TITS I'D BE A VERY VERY HAPPY FISHERMAN....!!!

Dont know why but it would have to be a big spanish mack... anything over 15kg would be awesome but for the sake of the thread one over 30kgs would be better! I think they are a cracking looking fish and its something about that first screaming run that gets me.. awesome animal.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Dhuie

Wed, 2012-03-28 15:59

My wish would be to land a good dhuie from the rocks.

Have caught literally thousands from boats over many years but never landed one from shore. Have had them come up on a wave only for the next wave to take them back, including two that would have gone round 20lb+ in one day.

If that happens the next one will be to do the near impossible and get a red emperor from the rocks, only ever heard of two being caught
