I much prefer Fishing WA as, apart from all the WA fishing, at
least they do some landbased fishing. That wally Paul on Ifish starts squealing if he looks like getting wet by a wave. Did anyone see that episode where they went drummer fishing.

ifish..
I used to hate Paul Worstelling, at the start but after a while hes not bad.
Specially the epsiode i saw when he fell down a ditch, the night before they filmed the show. And hes out the next day, all bandaged up fishing with 1 arm.
Clasic.

Ifish
I have not watched a whole lot of fishing WA but so far I still prefer Ifish. Sure, it's mostly over east but it's a show to watch when you are not fishing yourself.
Fishing WA epsiodes are probably recorded too long ago to be relevant for whats being caught. With Ifish, it does not matter because it is much more enjoyable to watch.

Gone off
i think both shows have gone off a little, perhaps they are going over old ground too much & in the case of F/WA they have given up completely & gone to malaysia, perhaps one of the perks of havin malaysian airlines as a sponsor. still a long way to tow the boat. I record & watch most of them giving me the option of fast forwarding all the dribble that takes up all the good fishing time. I think out of all the shows, I Fish, Fishing WA, Fishing Australia & ET, i have to support the local show mostly because i can relate to the local content, but i'm not keen on the replacement for Jacko, shes a bit betta lookin but he at least put a bit of comedy/stupidity into it. adverts and sponsorship and a quick bit of fishing.

Preference??
I have only been in WA/Hedland for 18 months now, I actually enjoy FWA...one host who is a quality fisherman and then goood ole Jacko who adds a bit or humour and i think all of us have a little bit of him in us. Is really good to see them around all of WA......and really gives some good insight to the various locations. Ifish can be hit and miss, they are both reasonable hosts and Paul Worsteling can be a pain in the backside but he does have the skill and knoweledge....bit less stupidity from him and it would be more watchable i think.
So the question is.......do we think there is room on TV/FOX regional TV etc for another quality Fishing/Boating program?????....i think the answer is yes. The unfortunate thing is that all of the shows need advertising which equals product placement...be it good or bad gear. Would be great to see a show that doesn't rely SO much on promoting a brand....maybe a variety of gear.......but i guess I am asking too much, be easier to pick the Lotto Superdraw!
Rex has had his day (was still good and broke the ground for all the new shows), ET is ok viewing...I just find he has very little charisma....but having met him he is a nice guy. Have seen Hook Line Sinker on Fox/Aurora.......they are ok but just miss the mark with overall performance.....and am now doing a google search on Loco TV for that fishing show.
Anyhow thats my 2cents worth...if i can't go fishing I will still watch anyone of them that's on TV

In the UK sometimes they
In the UK sometimes they have fishing shows on one cable station 24 hours straight for a week.
I wish now that Free2air is digital that one of the channels would go down the same path or at least late night or something. You couldn't critic Jacko for being boring or average in the excitment department.
The more fishing shows the better. Some of the fishing shows from the US are pretty cool. Surely one of the stations could pick this up and run with it on one of their off digital channels? A back to back would be great as the shows tend to be too short or fluffed up.
Id rather watch ABT highlights or some comp highlights than any other sport. Bring it on. Considering places like Karratha have some of the highest boat ownership rates per head of capita in the world back digital channel broadcasting do a whole lot worse at present.
Fishing appeals to a broad based section of the market. It beats much of the current summer garbage. Theres more than a few people chasing method on how to go about even the simplest of things such as beach tailor fishing. Enviroment, times, lures etc etc. Basic principals of setting a drag related to the knot strength etc is so not knowin by general public fishermen.
Even old stuff repeated would be fine.
If you want people buying digital set top boxes.
The worst fishing show is better than the best garbage summer broadcast at present. Even doc shows like salmon fishing in Russian canyon streams venture outside the fishign demographic. Nile Perch in Africa. Dorado in South America. GT popping in Karratha. I-Fish; Digital Free2Air now has the room;
If your bored, run through the favorites on this.
http://www.youtube.com/user/bluewatertackle#p/f
Many graphics cards have a cable outlet from your graphics card to your TV. Youll running youtube to that soon enough if the TV channels dont get it happening.
The time is now; Bring it on.

Extreme Fishing
I watched this show featuring some Pommie git a few days ago on Foxtel. He was in the Phillipines. The only info I got out of that show was the proof of decimation of fish stocks through over-fishing and dynamite fishing in that highly populates susbsistance living area. The show itself was a bit like watching Hell's Kitchen.... Or maybe Jerry Springer.. LOL.. Why do we do it????

ifish is a national show that gets to many more people, and fwa is a local show that is specialised in fishing in WA (although the go up north far too much)
Ifish has also got way more ads even in the show and they do shit all in W.A.
P.S all the smart alecks that will say fwa is on foxtel, yeah it is but thats the old series.

Both iFish and Fishing WA have a lot on some of the English
fishing shows I have seen on Foxtel. They get excited catching a big goldfish. One episode these blokes travelled for miles to sleep out in the rough to try and catch a mullet.
On another episode one of the commentators had the temerity to say that one of the carp type things they were catching must be the hardest pulling fish in the world.
Sorry Roger, but from what I have seen the English fishing shows are as crap as your cricket team (Lol).

Unfortunately its true Vince Lol
The only interesting thing about the UK fishing shows is the different gear they use.
The only thing interesting about the English cricket team is how low will they stoop to try and win a game. First it was using botle tops to rough up one side of the ball, then it was rubbing lollies on the ball (aledgely) and now it is alledgedly stomping on the ball.

Little info bits like how fast does a dolphin fish grow, how to fish FADS & wot size are dhuis before they reach breeding size. The best part is no ads except for the sponsors at the end. UK Fishing
Don't worry wopjrb.. I am an old POM as well. We came here in 1966 when I was 10. My Father worked for a land owner who was a purist fisherman and even went off to throw flies at Salmon twice a year (something not many POMs get to do in the UK).
The thing that intrigued me was the level of complexity involved in fishing over there. The farmer gave me a couple of books that I studied and they covered the art of catching various species from Rudd, Roach, Carp, Tench etc. You needed a very special set of tools (floats, weights, leaders, hooks etc) and were required to learn the art of reading the eddys etc in the water systems. It was all very complicated and the chances were that you would come back empty handed with a wet arse.
I did manage to catch some nice Trout on worms and once I even landed a decent Pike in an apple orchard in Sommerset. I only really got excited about fishing when I came out here.

There is no doubt that the fishermen have good skills Vince
It just doesn't make for riveting TV. The fishing competition was a classic. They had some guy crawling through the reeds and whispering like the old commentator on "Pot Black" about the types of maggots one of the competitors was using.Snore.

there is a gaping hole ready for a really good fishing show to fill. unfortunately it'd probably be deemed too specialist.

I prefer FWA mainly
I prefer FWA mainly during Steve, Marshy and Ryans run on the program.
Jacko and Nick got annoying. I dont mind Lisa. What she may lack in experience she makes up for in passion.
Paul from Ifish is really annoying. Lately his missus has been doing her own segments. Shes pretty nice to look at.
Fishing Trips Jason"STOP THE BUS" Kennedy gets boring after the 100th episode of targeting pink snapper out of western port or whyalla.
Dave Butfield On Hooked is pretty good but he's an uber nerd on the tackle and equipment.
Theo on River to Reef is ok. I like how they spend much time on Marine safety.
The 2 guys on fishing life are a boring version of Nick and jacko.
All 4 Adventure is pretty good. Bit homoerotic though.
Malcolm douglas and his handlines owns them all!

Rex Hunt and Malcolm Douglas tie.
Busted Arse is right about Dave Butfield he is a nerd who tries to be cool (they're the worst). Hooked is ok but it’s basically a long advert like all the other fishing shows on Aurora.
He seems pretty knowledgeable but lacks charisma (see Rex Hunt), I usually tape Hooked and watch it later to skip the shit parts.
Don't get me started on Jason "special ed bus" Kennedy as most people have said all he does is catch snapper and talk to the weird boat guy or go fishing with the weird pirate 2ic of Berkley guy.
Hooked, line and sinker with the 2 guys is alright, the skinny guy thinks he's awesome and the fat guy doesn't really do much.
River to Reef is alright I like the cooking segment and I would like to smash the blonde chick lol.
I haven't seen FWA before but I am going to record it from now on.
Ifish, I watched that today the Paul guy is alright but it seems like he is just an average fisherman who will never be on the level of Hunt or Douglas. Good at fishing but not as knowledgeable as you would expect from a guy who is a host of a fishing show.
River monster is pretty shit you might as well record it and fast forward it to the end of the show. Wade runs out of stuff to say and he just repeats himself a couple of times.
There's 1 more show I used to watch when I was a kid it had 2 hosts, 1 of the guys had/has a wild moustache and they also have their own line of tackle that you can buy at kmart. I don't remember their names
Anyways my main grievances with these shows is that instead of teaching you about rigs etc they just advertise (understandable), talk shit and show them catching fish money shot after money shot lol.
I think Butfield is a reformed "lisper" and JK has a retarded voice for no reason.
So to answer your question I would have to say Ifish by default but in the overall category Rex Hunt and Malcolm Douglas will always win.
EDIT: how do i get rid of the normal false etc stuff?

Couple on old show
Think the couple on the old show you were thinking about are Steve Starling and Bushy. There shows were good to start with then they started to do the advertising sponsors bit causing their popularity to drop off.
Did a show with them at Hamelin bay on salmon years back and at the end of the segment they gave thanks to us [pro salmon fishermen ] for doing the hard work spotting fish for them.

Definately Ifish, Hooked.
Definately Ifish, Hooked. Ifish has done plenty of WA stuff and keeps it interesting with kids fishing, different locations and good tackle. Adventure bound was good. Good luck to the rest of them, hope they go well so we can have some more variety.

Ready for a New Show
I think were all ready for a new fishing show, without sponsors being shoved down our throat at every opportunity.
Yes I know they pay the bills however acknowledgements at the end should be enough.
Where average guys and gals do spectactular things.
Maybe Fishwrecked members could be used, some of the postings here are equal if not better than any I have seen.
People like Adam, Pilbra Brad, Jay Burgess, Daz or any other member

Balance.
I understand where you are coming from. Sponsors do pay some of the bills and the cost is scary. I also agree that what some of the guys on here are doing is awesome, however to do it week in week out is a different story. Bring on a new show but please someone try a different angle for a change.

Adventure Bound wins hands down!!
Adventure bound would have to be the best fishing show i have seen. Great hosts that know there stuff and are'nt annoying. They cover some of the best places in Aus and abroad and most of the places are pretty accesable to all angelers as alot of it is tralier boat fishing.
Lee Rayner jumped on board last season and he's doing a great job so far taking over from Neil Tedesco who was the main presenter before he died. Neil was the most skillful fisherman i have ever seen and boy was he a good tv presenter.
I strongly suggest everyone check out AB, some great episodes in WA as well.
