It is vital that if you think you have snagged gear on a cray pot you mark it by tying a knot in the float rig or similar.

U ntil you've been on the recieving end, you probably don't realise how dangerous it can be. Or the loose hooks snag you in the arm/hand/ face and yank you into the winch. Anything out of the ordinary will get their attention--knot between the floats, plastic ice or rubbish bag tied on tight, a rag...
