importing boats

hi guys just wondering a few things about importing boats. i no about the width and all that but what about inspections over there who does that? also whats the shipping price roughly on a 25ft walkaround on trailer? and is it worth buying from the states or just picking one up here?

 There is a us website with accredited marine surveyers i got john bowman off there he was very good. I highly reccomend portsea they shipped my boat.

Worth trying him. He was pretty good with helping me get mine here. They organised the Surveyor to go out and havea look at mine and sent throguh a full report and photos. Cost roughly $16k from there to Freo.

Importing an ali boat

Sorry to hijack your thread Luke but I was wondering why the boats being imported from the US by FW members here are all fibreglass....don't they have plate ali boats in the US worth importing or aren't they any cheaper than buying local....or do you guys just prefer glass over ali?

Basically your correct, they dont have many ocean going ali boats( if any ?). And yes i do prefer glass.

 

And luke 93 yes i am stoked with mine and i think i got a good price and a good experience, but didnt save tens of thousands or anything like that.
