Instructional Video - Mechanical jigging (Kiwi Style)

Hi guys,

Here is a video clip I made for the NZ Fishing News magazine which goes with this months article I have in there.

Its just a very basic video clip demonstrating the basic technique with mechanical jigging using both overhead and spin gear.

Do you reverse the

Thu, 2009-09-03 17:40

Do you reverse the directions of the winds much? I've seen a few japanese jiggers wind up on the down stroke and down on the up stroke. I.e. if your hands are moving in a circle, they're like winding a pedal with a hand on each (180 degree offset) instead of both on one side (0 degree offset and synchronous). If that makes any sense?

Yes

Sat, 2009-09-05 09:03

Yep i know that technique mate and yes I have tried it occassionally (more so with spin gear) but haven't found any increased interest from fish by it. Sometimes out on the water I have seen the most uncoordinated guys with the most odd techniques get hammered by fish. As long as the jig is moving your odds of getting bit are high Laughing

Trips with specialist

Sat, 2009-09-05 09:00

Trips with specialist jigging operators is around NZ$200-$275pp/day. All of the best run trailer boats here and fish Bay Of Islands / Coromandel (Alderman Islands) / Tauranga (Mayor Island) / Whakatane (White Island).

Most of the specialist charters are based on day trips, if you are wanting to do more than 1 day then most have accommodation at their places for their clients.

The larger boats that head to the Three Kings and the Ranfurly Banks do minimum 3 days to the Banks and min 5 days to the Kings and at around NZ$360pp/day + food.

Cheers,

Josh

mouseover bug

Sat, 2009-09-05 10:10

Oh I meant all the mouseover bugs, they seem to have been there for months, certainly as long as I've ever known about the site. The funny bit is that the error has an error in it, they misspelt server.

Tell him to get in touch if he wants a working rewrite with some more modern features =)
