I have never had any problems with them, in fact I have had good service. For example, they contacted me not long ago and advised me that if I paid slightly more for a bigger download limit, it would still be cheaper than what I was paying at that time, taking into account the money for the extra download.I should have realised probably, but didn't. I would still be on the same plan today if they had not contacted me.
but i highly recommend not going with them. customer service is crap. they seem to outsource , coz each time I call them i can't understand the accent.
Going to be changing to iprimus tho. they seem to be really good after giving them a call. and very good value for money. seems to be run by proper english speaking workers.
Have been with bigpond and tpg and would never go back to them after being with Westnet. Especially not TPG their service is the worst ever!!! And they even make it hard to cancel your service with them!
Westnet has great service, if you ever need to call them about something you actually talk to someone in perth and they're australian.. and you can understand them.. and they actually help... it's awesome :) Possibly not THE cheapest but definately the best.
its the only provider in my area that does ADSL2+, no other carriers will. New place will be on the Telstra Velocity network (cable) - good times! Also carries the Foxtel via cable, so no more satellite dish for me.
Bigpond for me. Tried iinet, Optus and a few others and had horror dramas with dropouts. Bigpond had the same problem but at least they were able to fix it after 3 months of f^%$ing around.
In defence of the others, the assumption is that they all use Bigpond lines, but were not able to gain enough access to resolve the issue.
Jurgen from SWIS (South West Internet Service) grew into Westnet and I have never had a problem. Maybe lately sending to much spam shit to do with their own business. I am happy, why send crap to a happy customer. For some reason get about 3 or 4 everyday.
its cheap fast and never had a problem. when i did my research i couldnt find anyone with so much to offer so cheap. when a telstra rep knocked on my door after i put us on the do not call list for tele marketers(they cant take no for an answer) he admited he could not compete with them for price and my down load speed was just slower then theres for less than 1/3rd of there price

I dont think Westnet has gone down the IINET path even though it is owned by IINET.

Westnet and iinet own thier
Westnet and iinet own thier own infrastructure in Perth areas, unlike most other providers who rent from telstra.
2 best residential providers by far.

I wouldn't bother with
I wouldn't bother with westnet anymore, might as well go straight to iinet.
Amcom have a lot of exchanges covered with their own infrastructure, so they are a good choice if they're on your exchange too.
