Introduction.......... Get to know me

Just a short introduction here for everyone to get to know me.

As some people are aware and some aren't my name is Doug and i am the new owner of The Tackle Shack.

I was born in Qld, a very short 55 years ago, and moved to WA around 40 years ago now and thouroughly enjoy it here.

My interests are obviously fishing, mainly beach ,river and jetty with a preference to my favorite location being Carnavon. Favorite fish to catch would be mulloway big or small.

Other interests are travelling and driving, the longer the better, i often go for a SHORT drive and dont come back for a day or twoTongue out

I also like gardening and driving the missus mad.(expert at it now)

So feel free to pop in anytime and introduce yourselves to me and or message me.

Any idea's also on what people would like to see in the shop would also be taken into account so we can make The Tackle Shack a bigger and better shop for all, so give us some idea's.

G'day Doug

Thu, 2008-10-02 18:43

Welcome Doug, haven't met you yet but you seem like a good bloke.  First thing is I'd do is raise your staff's wages because if they're true to form of any tackle store employee they'll spend most of their money back in the store anyway. Wink

Cheers,

Adam

Welcome

Welcome Doug. Good to see you finally show your face round here.

Already seen changes at the store and some new gear in a short time so it will be good to see how it continues to grow as you stamp your mark on the store.

Good onya Doug

Doug bought himself a new 10 foot rod yesterday, so I reckon he will be going for one of his drives and disappearing for a few days pretty soon.
Some Gamakatsu gang hooks would be good and the new Abu Garcia Soron spinning reels might be popular once people see them. I reckon one of those might be a nice match up with your new rod Doug.

The shop has come a long way

Fri, 2008-10-03 11:51

The shop has come a long way since you have taken over doug, so congrats to you and your staff on making this happen. You have to remember that you could stock every product known to man in the tackle department and you will still have costomers walking out because you havent got what they wont. In my opinion knowlege of the products you have in store and customer service is more important.

If you know whats on the shelves and know how to use them is better in my books. Theres nothing worse working into a shop with all the best of the best gear and u get the comment "dont ask me what there like there new" hit you in the face. You very and i mean very lucky to have the staff with this knowledge.

People are interested in new technques all the time even if there not interested in buying them they enjoy the sport enough to want to listen about anything to do with it.

Promote new things to customers that walk in buy the old " mate have you seen these yet?" "There awsome" and chances are they will buy them. This is not pushing something into buying the product it just gives them to choice to see if there interested. MOST POEPLE WANT TO TRY SOMETHING NEW BUT ARE TO EMBARRESED TO ASK IN CASE IT DOESNT SOUND RIGHT! I mean hey every fisherman i know does it this way and thats it. Why because it works for them thats why. But some can be perswaded into new ventures.

Shit thats why ive got some much gear.....beacuse i see something new ask about it and cant help but try it. You never know it might just get you onto more fish.

Smiles and fun in a store can make it happen as well. Nothing better walking into a shop with a great atmosphere buzzing around. makes me what to stay for a good look around.

You guys will do well beacsue of the right things not the wrong ones. keep up the good work and you will do well.

Cheers For the help and advise much appreciated.SPESS.

PS: you prices are spot on as well which will always help.
