she needs a bullet!

the guys that fish the canyon usually only fish upto three to four hundred metres! and there pressure is very small and only in very small areas! the navy uses the canyon for live fire exercises and training are they going to stop them from using it too?? they would make a great deal more noise than a couple of fisherman!

if the The West keeps up this

Mon, 2011-03-28 14:15

if the The West keeps up this anti fishing stance with soo much coverage of this looney tunes woman, we as fishermen should boycot The West, cancell your subscription and send in a letter to the Editor in Chief about their bias editorials by this woman.

As for fishing the Trench areas, hell we allow huge long lines to harvest fish in there all thye time, live firing of amo by the navy, and loads of pollutants dumped by ships leaving and entering our ports once they out of sight of the land, YET she is concerned about a few fishermen going out deep for 2 fish each max!!! WTF is wrong with this woman. Too much PEW / PETA etc in her wheatbix every morning me thinks...

Having been know to be such a staunch supporter of conservation, seem Miss Jessica has stange bed fellows....

Her boyfriend of the last three years is Eric Streitberg

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/features/the-triple-play/story-e6frgabx-1225852812333

Eric Streitberg, Managing director of Buru Energy, and a person hell bent on opening up large sections of the Kimberlies around Derby and the Kings Sound to oil exploration.

http://www.buruenergy.com.au/web/Projects/Exploration program and objectives

The field work programs in the Canning Superbasin are influenced by the "wet season" which can hamper movement in varying degrees from December to March. The planned programs will also be influenced by weather conditions, personnel and equipment availability, the gaining of regulatory and environmental approvals and successful negotiation of access agreements with traditional owners.

Now who is going to rubber stamp this Enviromental Impact Study and say it won't effect the whale grounds and sensative ecco system of the Far North???

And where will Miss Jessica be picketing????  for oil exploration or against it!!!

quote "

He stays fit by snorkelling and diving with his partner of three years, marine biologist Jessica Meeuwig, who also keeps an eye on his environmental credentials. "It's an interesting juxtaposition," he says "

Seems she is quick to lock up our back yard, yet has a warm bed with a known oil developer and maverick buisnessman

quote:

"

BURU Energy's eric Streitberg has been chased by crocodiles in northern Australia, lost in the Sahara Desert, braved crocodile-infested waters in Papua New Guinea and twice risked it all to build companies from nothing in his 39-year career. But some say his biggest challenge is just starting.

As Streitberg's fledgling oil and gas company begins drilling the vast Canning Basin in central northern Western Australia next month, plenty of eyes will be upon its swashbuckling executive director. Some want him to succeed. In a remarkable show of confidence, the aluminium giant Alcoa has pumped $40 million into the kitty as pre-payment for gas it hopes to buy. But others are less kind. "There are a lot of doubters who'd be very happy to see us fall flat on our face," he admits.

If he pulls it off, Buru will be Streitberg's third success. The lanky oilman, who stands an imposing 195.5cm and has a reputation for straight-talking, established his first company, Discovery Petroleum, in 1987. He built it into a $100 million business before it was snapped up by British raider Premier Oil. A year later he founded Arc Energy. It was worth more than $450 million when it merged with Australian Worldwide Exploration in 2008. Buru is his latest child - created in a deal that saw Arc's Canning Basin assets hived off into Streitberg's new explorer when the merger took place. "I'm hoping I can do it a third time. That's the plan."

"

Maybe we need some placards with her connection to big oil money in future rallies???

Pretty funny how they're campaigning to lock up the canyon for fishing and drilling ... must mean its too deep to drill ;)

Well done putting the time in finding this.

Now this got to be made public in a much broader way!

For a start letters to the editor, then if there is some money available a nice big advert, shooting her credability down in flames!

Till, not sure how deep the canyon is but with today's technology they can use TLP's(Tension Leg Platforms) in 1000-1500 metre depth, and with horizontal drilling they can go up to 7km in any direction.

they could easily drill and

Tue, 2011-03-29 12:17

they could easily drill and extract oil off the back of Rotto in the canyon region if it was there!!!

Thats the point, bet you she made dam sure there was no large source indicators that could compramise her squeezes exploits before she came out with the Canyon Marine park claim....

Eventualy I will find the sh!t thats stinks and sticks to her shoes.... and that will be the type that will kill her career and work for good.

I have been long enough in this game to know how to kill off any EPA or Enviromental accreditations with a few links and lines drawn...

Mining / Oil and chemical industry can be a dirty tricks game.

Jessica just forgot that most of us make our bread and butter from this game, and it pays for our fishing as well...

All we need to do is find one recommendation from Jessica or her B/F via his Chaired positions that influence an exploration that benefits him and they both dead & gone.

AND my gut feeling starts with the Kings Sound, as any Oil & Gas around Derby would need sea access and a closed sides sound would be hyper sensitive to spills etc.

So has the Kings Sound ever been recommened to be a closed marine park with no development or exploration, if so who was involved in the EPA / EIA??? and do they have links back to our wonder girl and her BF!???

I'd rather see large sections of the Kimberlies locked away from exploration than a marine park over the Canyons in water 500m+++ deep.

Oh and will this park stop the present ware games going on by the Navy, where they hunt subs hidding in the Canyons and drop depth chargers etc and deep water echo flashes to find the " bad guys "  in the games??? as is going on 30km off our coast right now between the Australian and NZ navies???

The Ranga speaks.

Thu, 2011-03-31 23:06

The Greens do not share Australian values, seems the NSW drubbing has got her scared and is grasping for straws and is clearing the decks for a bloodbath, Ditching Mrs Brown her nutters would be a good start.

But if the Ranga thinks she caan come to Western Australia, throw a couple of non core promises around to gain favor, well she best think again.

I used to be a Sea Shepherd volunteer, until the Fremantle group of Shepherds, which is infested with nutters, vegans and animal libbers took it upon themselves to come after fishing in Western Australia, the Greens can go to hell.

they may not share the " same Australian values" but they influence the goverments policy decesions on Enviroment, Climate, Marine and Water as long as she needs their votes to stay in power!!!

Her and Bob may do a " banks style brake-up and cry in public" but they will be in bed as long as POWER to rule is ar hand,

Only the Indepedants can make the difference now,

mark my words... in black & white...

Greens will get more marine parks this year & next.

Greens will get limitations on farmed areas up north in the NT & Kimberly’s

Greens will get a carbon tax through that will hurt you! loose Australian jobs off shore and make F-all difference to real climate change,,,,,

( print this out and date it on a board, then come back before the next Federal election and see who is buying the round of drinks, me or those believing Jul-liar will look after us....)
